Now that we have that out of the way. I am the 3rd owner of this beautiful 74 Alfa Romeo GTV. According to Marco Fazio of the Centro Documentazione. this Veloce was manufactured on the 9th of July. 1974 and sold on the 17th of July. 1974. It was delivered to Alfa Romeo Englewood Cliffs. USA. Originally light metallic beige (AR 835) with natural leather tex interior.
This is an amazingly rust-free vehicle. I have provided several pictures of the underside of this car. There is no rust to be found. In addition. all of the original panels are still with the car. This is evidenced by the presence of original spot welds and stress welds along the sills and the rear of the car behind the bumper. under the fender arches. etc. Also. the rear shock lateral braces are still factory straight. an indication of no previous rear end collisions.
The service history of this car is quite extensive. Every receipt from every form of service from day 1 will be provided to the new owner. Included also will be a log book of every time gasoline was pumped. with date. miles and fuel cost from 1974 on. It has had extensive restoration work done in the 1990s that has included a comprehensive chassis rebuild. shocks. tie rods. control arms. bushings. Bilsteins and reds in all four corners. etc. It has had a bare metal respray. changing the color to the beautiful and unusual blue color it is now. It has not been driven much since most of this work has been completed. That is a testament to not only the quality of work done. but how well this car has been cared for its entire life. It is simply a wonderful car for all of the senses. Suffice it to say. in addition to the brief summary of work mentioned above. all of the routine maintenance has been performed on time every time. with extensive records to support this. Other receipts I have come across include a SPICA rebuild in the 1990s by Wes Ingram. a complete new dash board assembly. distributor rebuild. complete undercoating. bright work polishing and a host of other misc. items. There are currently 102. xx miles on the car. I have no repair orders for any major mechanical failures or rebuilds save for a head gasket replacement by the Alfa Ferarri  dealer the car was purchased from. This dates to 1981 at a whopping cost of $91. 00 parts and labor.  Ok. you get the idea.
All of the restoration/performance work provided was to a very high standard. It shows throughout the cars exterior. interior. its road manners. and everything inside that you can not see. It starts from cold easily every time. It is quickly ready and very willing to drive after that. It performs flawlessly and shifts very deliberately and smoothly with no syncro issues at all. No smoke. no funny noises. No rattles in the cabin of the car. It is exceptionally tight inside and out. At highway speeds. or any other. for that matter. the steering wheel is so solid and steady. it almost feels like the car is standing still.
As shown in the pictures. there are only 2 areas that have let me down a bit. The top of the rear seat. where it is exposed to sunlight has dried and the seams have split. The other is the parcel shelf. It has 2 holes cut in for speakers. This car does not have a radio. It was eliminated when the new dash was installed. The previous owner couldn't bare to cut into that new wood. These items were on my very short list of things to do. I guess I have to leave something for the new owner. Best of luck. This is one of those cars that should speak to so many. It still speaks to me. but I am lusting after a step nose car.
