There are a select few cars that evoke smiles from everybody on the road. regardless of age or gender. This is one of those cars. This particular ‘60 Beetle takes the early Beetle charm and multiplies it. with slight tweaks to make it a more modern and usable driver. This car spent the overwhelming majority of its life in California. before being relocated to Chicago just a handful of years ago. Once in Chicago. the car was treated to a light restoration. during which the motor was upgraded to a rebuilt JCS 1600cc long block unit. the clutch was replaced. the car was converted to 12V. and the seats. carpet. and convertible top were all replaced. This is an extremely fun and well-sorted driver that is more than ready for summertime daily duty. The Exterior: Red over tan is a nice looking color combo on these cars. Red paint shines bright. though it does show its age by way of some chipping and light spider-webbing (on the hood) under direct light. With that said. the body is in excellent condition. There are absolutely no dents or dings to be found on the car. Chrome pieces are all intact and in great shape. All lights and glass are clear and crack-free. All rubber trim is new and watertight throughout. Wheels are in nice shape. with no curb rash or anything of the sort. Tires are very close to new. Black convertible top is new as of five years ago and looks and fits great. with no fading or damage in the slightest. The Interior: The interior was recently gone through and sorted completely. Tan leatherette seats and seat belts are new. as are the door panels and black carpeting. We love the simple body-colored dash and oversized wheel on these cars. All gauges are functional. as are wipers. lights. and signals. The radio. however. is not. That doesn't bother us though; the easily-identifiable air-cooled VW whistling exhaust note is all we need to hear. Doors open and close without a fuss. and front and rear windows roll up and down without any trouble. A USB plug-in has been mounted under the dash. The car has also had a black plastic cluster installed just in front of the gear lever with two cupholders – the perfect weekend coffee-getter. Under the Hood / Under the Car: The slight power bump of the new JCS motor really helps this car from a driver's standpoint. I've put many. many miles on an original ‘63 Beetle. and this ‘60 example is significantly more powerful and easier to navigate through traffic. While it still won't win any drag races. it really isn't a slouch. The car pulls through all four gears without any hesitation and feels very comfortable at speed. The car is in excellent mechanical order and always fires right up first turn. The car shifts nice and smoothly. brakes reel it in nicely. and the car tracks and brakes straight. A new clutch was installed just about 100 miles ago. The car truly has to be driven to be fully appreciated. On a nice summer day. there isn't many other cars I'd rather parade around town in. Underneath. the car looks very good. There is absolutely no rust; all structural components are rock solid. The car spent the large majority of its life in the dry state of California and it shows. Title Information: Vehicles titles may be held by banks or lenders as collateral for loans. In many cases there is a delay in receiving the original instruments up to 21 days from the time we pay a vehicle off. While we usually have all titles in our possession at closing. there are occasions where we may be waiting for them to arrive. Finalizing your Purchase: Evolve Motors will contact the successful high bidder by e-mail after the auction closes. Successful high bidder MUST communicate with Michael at Evolve Motors by  e-mail or phone
(773) 267-2684 within 24 hours of the auction ending to make arrangements to complete their transaction. If we cannot confirm your intention to buy or the sale is not completed within 5 days. we reserve the right to relist this vehicle or sell to any other qualified buyer. In order to secure bid on vehicle. Successful bidder (BUYER) must within 24 hours of bid closing send to Seller a Deposit in the amount of 10% by major credit card. cash in person or bank certified funds.
