1965 SUNBEAM ALPINE GT SERIES 5 HARDTOP MEDITERRANEAN BLUE 4 SEATS RARE MODEL for sale
Current customer rating: (795 votes ) based on1965 SUNBEAM ALPINE 1725cc MANUAL OVERDRIVE
RARE GT MODEL WITH REMOVABLE HARDTOP
Re-advertised due to zero rated bidder who used the Buy It Now option at midnight with 8 days still remaining on the auction. I have set a very realistic reserve but have not included a Buy It Now price on this occasion - I am happy to add a Buy It Now price to the listing but only after the car has been viewed.
For sale by auction is this very smart 1965 Sunbeam Alpine GT Series 5 with original engine. matching chassis numbers and original metal hardtop.
The Series 5 incorporated the modifications and design improvements of the earlier Series 1 - 4 cars and the GT model was the most expensive option offering the practicality of a removable hardtop and four seats.
Also fitted as standard on the GT model are disc brakes and a heater.
The car comes with the original buff logbook showing two owners prior to long term storage commencing 1975. Some previous restoration probably accounts for the exceptionally sound condition.
It is a pleasure to drive and receives admiring looks on every outing.
Mechanically the engine. gearbox and back axle are in excellent condition. the overdrive works without fault and operates on 3rd and 4th gears.
Finished in Mediterranean Blue with Black Interior.
The body and paintwork are very good without sign of rust.
The seats are excellent. possibly the best I have seen in an Alpine.
The tyres are matching Goodyear. all with excellent tread.
Engine bay detailing is first class. as shown in the pictures.
The underside of the car is also first class and extensively protected with waxoyl.
The chrome is generally good but is 48 years old and shows a patina as may be expected.
The heater works well.
The number plate is Historic Vehicle status and not transferrable as the original number has been transferred from the car.
There are some points which a new owner may wish to improve. The steering wheel is not the original for a GT. The wood veneer dash has some cracking. The roof lining is sound but showing age. and the fuel gauge does not work.
A nice car for an Alpine enthusiast.
I would welcome interested parties to view the car. Payment in cash upon collection please.
I reserve the right to end the listing early within the rules of ebay.
