We also have this car for sale as a roller with rebuilt engine for anyone who does not need a complete car !
We can sell it in any configuration you want - just email us.
I originally owned this car in late 2009 and was the 2nd owner ! I am now the 4th owner !  I traded it for a 190sl in 2010 from the same restoration shop
I just purchased it back from  !  .  Now I have purchased it back
and am listing it for sale . The last owner ran a Restoration shop that specialized in the 1955 - 1970's
Mercedes SL's since the 80's . This shop has had cars that have won 1st places at auto shows around the USA . They do not
cut corners on restorations !
This car was taken completely apart and the body was restored ( Even in 2009 this was very solid car with little rust !)
Excellent show car BLACK paint job was done on the entire auto - outside and inside as well . when it came back from the paint shop
the front and rear ends were removed and the bottom of the car  was painted with original tan grey primer that MERCEDES used
when they were new . The front and rear ends of the car were rebuilt - painted - new rubber etc and detailed . New brakes were installed on the front and the back - new rubber lines etc . The engine was running when I sold the car in 2009 but the shop sent it out to a professional engine rebuild er and had it rebuilt.
It has "0" miles on the rebuild ! What is still needed is to assembly the cylinder head and accessories back on it . The camshaft had 1 lob that was flat
so the cam will be sent out for a regrind so it is like new again . All nuts and bolts have been cleaned and were sent out and cad plated .
Many of the engine parts as well and any other parts on the car that were originally plated have been done also .
Many chrome parts on the car were also rechromed - original grille - tail panel chrome - dash chrome etc .
Interior seats are tan - other interior pieces are black

There are only a few missing parts so the car will be sold as a 98% complete car - missing     from the car are the door windows - the front headlights shown are also not included
armrests for the door panels are missing  That is all that I am aware is missing from this 280sl with hardtop only at this price -- you can always add a soft top later on as it is set up for one as well - but at this price it is not included

This car has the potential be worth in excess of $100. 00 with ease -- why spend $80. 00 +++ on an unknown car with a pretty paint job and new interior
but not a real restoration when you can get one that has the potential to be worth well over $150. 00 with less than a $20. 00 investment to finish it ?

I would say someone could give you a non running and rusted 280sl and you would not be able to restore it to the condition of this one for less money and again that is if someone gives you one for $1  you will still not be able to build it to this spec

When looking at the $100. 00 plus 280sl's ask the if they did a frame up restoration of the body or a complete engine rebuild .
I would say a car like this at this price is very rare to have an opportunity to purchase - and as most know on these cars they keep going up up in value .

Hagerty ins has this listed in #1 condition at $150. 00  additions are HARDTOP add $4500 - 4 speed add 10%  = $169. 00

Condition #1 vehicles are the best in the world. The visual image is of the best vehicle. in the right colors. driving onto the lawn at the finest concours. Perfectly clean. the vehicle has been groomed down to the tire treads. Painted and chromed surfaces are mirror-like. Dust and dirt are banned. and materials used are correct and superbly fitted. The one word description for #1 vehicles is "concours. " $150. 00 +++

#2 Excellent cond $94. 00  add hardtop + 4 speed  = $108. 60
#3 Good cond $71. 00        "        "        "      "        =  $82. 20
#4 Fair cond $47. 00           "       "         "      "       = $56. 00

Do the math and you will see this car is a steal !

I have well over 150 pictures of the car and the parts
