1968 Chevrolet C-10

SEE VIDEO LISTED ON YOU TUBE UNDER 1968 Chevy Stepside. VERY CLEAN WITH no rust in the usual areas. ie door sills. interior cab above sun visor. fender rockers or rear bed fenders. This truck is freaking clean!!NO rust on frame either!

I just picked up this EXTREMELY CLEAN '68 Chevy C-10 Short-bed Step-Side. It spent most of it's entire life in the desert in California. Then about 10 years ago a guy named Dennis Mc Carthy who owns a hot rod shop called McCarthy Auto in California bought it for a build.  
For those of you who do not recognize his name. he built all the cars and trucks for a little movie franchise called Fast and the Furious. As the history goes. they were going to include this truck in the first movie but since the truck was so clean and rust free. they decided to just a use a cheaper and newer model truck. With that. the truck sat at his shop for about 10 years maturing the stunning and uniform patina. At which point. a friend of mine who lives near Burbank. California and also owns a speed shop called The Hot Rod Shop bought the truck.
Once I heard about it. I asked him to send me a video so I could see for myself how clean this truck actually was. Well. needless to say. I was amazed at how clean and straight this truck was. No rust. no excuses. A exceptionally clean truck from the Ca. desert that will not need 10K worth of rust repairs and body panel replacement.  
This example retains all of its original sheet-metal.  I immediately noticed that there were no cab corners rotted out or drip rail rust. the floor pans are dry and solid!! Non of the usual rust suspects when it comes to this era/body style C-10's.
I wired the money out the very next day!! My plan was to build it into a LS conversion and keep it for shows. Since the paint has a perfect patina and the body is so straight and rust free. I figured that would be the only thing I would do with the exception of upgrading the stock drum brakes and relocating the gas tank.  When it arrived. my first thought was this truck was definitely never a work truck. If it was. it was hauling balloons!! Original wood in bed is actually not rotted through like most of them and get this. it's in decent shape!! 
The front chrome bumper and grill look excellent too! No pitting or scratches. There are no dents/rust areas to worry about. The hood hinges work perfectly and are in flawless condition too! I have never seen such an old and unmolested truck that was this clean. Even the bulkhead is straight!! Original tailgate is just as clean!! Unbelievably clean condition!!
It does have power steering and drives amazing. The steering is tight and she holds the road well. It also has the big V-6 in it with a 3 speed on the floor. Headers and dual exhaust were added at some point in the past.  I put the 22" wheels on her because the 1980 mags she had were beat and needed tires.  I had these as a take off set from my 2017 Suburban.  
That is the reason I am selling it. The wife (&^*%) just had to have a new Suburban so. I was however able to keep some other toys I own. so that's cool I guess!
Whomever buys this truck will not be disappointed one bit. She is every bit as clean and rust free as described and shown in pictures.  If you have been looking for a clean C-10 to build or just use as a daily. you have got to see this truck.  It is ready to drop a monster motor into and go or just use it as a putter. I would probably have a flat clear coat sprayed on her to protect the finish. The patina is very nice and uniform.
