1992 JAGUAR XJ-S 4.0 AUTO GREEN for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.5) based on 433 votes
The Jaguar XJ-S was initially launched in 1975 with the 5. 3 V12 engine in both manual and automatic versions. The V12 became a so called “HE or High Efficiency” engine in 1981 and a 3. 6 straight six was introduced in 1983. In 1991 the cars were re-designed and launched as the XJS (instead of XJ-S). now often referred to as “semi-facelift” vehicles with different glass and rear light clusters and a 4. 0 AJ6 (Advanced Jaguar 6 cylinder) engine.
This car is a 4. 0 Sport automatic in British Racing Green with Oatmeal hide. Save for a new iPod and bluetooth compatible stereo the car is exactly as it was when it was delivered from Swain & Jones Jaguar in Farnham on 18th November 1992. The car has had only one previous owner who I purchased the car from several years ago. The car has remained garaged in Surrey for its entire life apart from a brief trip to Denmark in the mid 1990's. When it came to buying the car from the owner I'm not sure I was the decision maker; I think I was being interviewed as a suitable and proper future keeper! I did drive my Daimler Double Six Series III down to view the car as evidence of my interest in the marque.
As is to be expected from a car that has been cherished from new it is in truly amazing condition – the specialist who I use to look after my Jaguars and have done for over 15 years commented that he hadn't seen one that good in over a decade. The paintwork is almost 100% original and in excellent condition; I had the lower rear wings under the bumper repainted as a precaution to prevent any corrosion gaining a foothold. The interior is literally as new with even the drivers seat showing little signs of wear and the carpets and headlining spotless. I have had the wheels refurbished to as new factory standard (they had not been touched before) and put matching green Jaguar centre caps in which I think finish them nicely. I also at great expense had fitted mats made complete with the correct Jaguar logo in Bentley green wilton carpet and these will be sold with the car. Mechanically the car had done few miles over the last few years before I purchased it so in my ownership I have carried out the following; new radiator. hoses and coolant flush. brake system flush and refill. new brakes. complete service with all filters. new battery. wishbone bushes replaced and ABS accumulator replaced. The air conditioning system has also been converted to the modern gas standard and works perfectly. Being a sport model it is fitted with the more tightly damped suspension than the standard model and even twenty years after being produced is a great pleasure to drive on country roads. I have all the supporting paperwork for the car including invoices dating back to the first service at Swain & Jones in May 1993 at 4830 miles.
In addition I have all of the handbooks and even the owners guide on compact cassette as well as a full set of original keys (including the green valet one). It comes with a full MOT valid until August 2014 and the tax expires October 2013. Mileage is 59. 00. The last service was done less than 1. 00 miles ago so the car is ready to be enjoyed. In summary this car could easily be made concours if that is of interest and certainly has all the paperwork in place for the most demanding owner.
I am a Jaguar enthusiast of many years and this is the most original car I have ever owned. It is with sadness though that she must be sold to fund another project so I hope to find her a good home! Geniune enquiries and offers only please; she may not be the cheapest but she might well be the best and most original XJS for sale in the country!
The car is garaged in Weybridge. Surrey 5 minutes from J11 of the M25 and not far from Heathrow.
