This included a new more powerful engine thanks to direct-injection. The 3. 8-liter Carrera 4S got 385 horsepower and 310 pound feet of torque. Also. the prior issues with the IMS bearing were eliminated altogether as these new motors did not have the bearing…similar to the GT3 style Mezger motors. New styling of the lights really helped finish off the already improved 997 looks. Is this the modern day version of the G50 Carrera? I think history will show these to be some of the most reliable and desirable 911s ever built. This Porsche was built in September of 2009 and sold new on October 30th. 2009. This particular example was custom ordered for a true enthusiast. It is well optioned from the factory and had an MSRP of nearly $107. 00. It was always garaged. dealer serviced. and well cared for. The current owner purchased it with around 32k-miles as a Certified Pre-Owned Porsche from his local dealer in Dallas. Texas. Significant/recent services include: New rear tires (less than 800-mi) Over-rev report – Zero over revs 1-6 (@ 48k-mi) New water pump (@ 48k-mi) Replace drive belt. oil service. brake flush. alignment (@47k-mi) O2 sensors replaced (@35k-mi) The owner of this 997. 2 S comes from a family of very enthusiastic Porsche collector/owners who are actively involved in Porsche events across the country. So. proper care and maintenance is almost inborn in this owner. Besides frequent oil services and visits to the local dealer. the car was always garaged and never misused. As a result. the condition reflects this. The paint looks nice and has been verified original with the use of a paint meter. There are some signs of use. especially on the front nose/bumper with the typical road rash. There are no significant blemishes and anything we could find was small. The rear quarter panel stone guards also show some wear (see pics). We attempted to note most imperfections in our photos. The glass is all-original including the windshield. which has a couple small chips/cracks that have been professionally repaired (see pics). The front tow-hook cover will be replaced upon delivery to the new owner. The 19” Porsche wheels are in great shape with just a few nicks and are wearing new rear Bridgestone tires. The fronts have about 1/3-life remaining and will need to be replaced soon. The brakes have more than half-life remaining all the way around. The interior is equally as nice with very light signs of use. The adaptive sport seats are in very good shape with no tears or rips. There is just some mild wear (as expected) on the driver exist bolster and a small dimple in the leather on the passenger seat (see pic). The carpet. headliner. dash. and door panels all look new with no blemishes. All the gauges. lights. and buttons function properly. This 997 S drives amazing. It feels incredibly tight and very nimble. The car starts easily with no smoking. etc. It has a great throttle response and revs freely. The manual gearbox shifts smoothly with no grinding and the clutch operates properly. The clutch was recently inspected by the Porsche dealer and found to be in excellent shape. The brakes have strong initial bite with no fading or squeaking. The steering is precise and turn in is sharp. It drives smoothly down the road without pulling to one side or the other. This Porsche would be excellent for any long distance drive or simply daily use.
