Up for grabs is my 1999 BMW 528iT / E39 Touring. I've spent the past 2 years building it to this stage and now it's ready to have a new caretaker.
~173k miles. Black on black “Schwartz” non-metallic. pure black paint about 2 years old. single stage. no scratches or swirls. shines like a mirror and everyone comments how deep and wet the paint looks. Front bumper and splitter were JUST repainted. there are no scratches on the front bumper / splitter. The car runs and drives flawlessly. tons of smooth power. comfortable quiet ride (4-5 trips to Las Vegas. even in 120º heat. car runs cool and strong). exhaust sounds killer and it stops on a dime and the steering is as tight and precise as a new one.
Just smogged and registered in California till May '18. you won't need to smog the car for 2 years in CA. There are no CEL or codes of any kind.
Comes with 2 remote control keys. 1 brand new BMW repro (looks and functions 100% perfectly) 1 that came with the car and is a cheaper repro that looks lame. but it's there if you need it as a backup.
Maintenance during the 2. 5 years I've owned the car includes but not limited to because I know I'm forgetting some things I've done.
All new control arms front
New upper control arms rear
New rear subframe bushings (over 1k job including parts)
ABS module rebuilt with lifetime warranty
Annual oil changes with Amsoil Euro premium synthetic oil done this week (annual oil change per BMW and I only drive it about 5k miles a year max anyhow)
New radiator. expansion tank and hoses
New clock spring for steering wheel
BMW roundel emblems on hood and hatch replaced about 1 year ago with OEM so they still look perfect. not cheap ones that turn brown after 1 month.
New windshield moulding
New windshield cowling
Modifications:
Suspension Techniques coilovers (coilover front. nbsp;shocks and adjustable links in the back for factory SLS air)
Silver Project camber plates
540 front calipers with slotted/drilled rotors front and rear with Akebono Euro pads. ECS Tuning stainless hoses in front
Weds Maverick 709M 2 piece wheels. made to order in Japan. hub centric for E39 BMW 19x9. 5 front. 19x10. 5 rear with 15mm front spacers
Accelera PHI2 tires. rears are 6 months old with less than 2k miles on them. fronts are excellent. 235/35-19 / 275/30-19
M5 front bumper with Extreme Dimensions front splitter and correct M5 “aero” splash guards & brake ducting
M5 rear bumper
M5 body moldings with the “5” covered because it's not an M5. but it is an M sport
M5 door mirrors - added the M5 window control with folding mirror button. but never got the module needed to make it work
M5 front seats
Brand new front seat belt buckles. NO FADED RED!!
Aerojacket roof wing
Dynavin touch screen. model specific navigation head-unit bluetooth. dvd. etc. looks OEM. buttons look like BMW. illumination matches the rest of the lighting. great upgrade. retains all stock functions on steering wheel. etc (backup camera compatible)
Blues Audio 600 watt amp and Blues Audio 12" sub
Blues Audio roof speakers
Kicker front door speakers
Black headliner
Lloyds premium floor mats. front/rear (blows BMW OEM floor mats away in plush softness and locking system)
Interior LED lighting
Eagle headlights with HID 6k bulbs
M5 Fog lights with matching HID 6k bulbs
Manzo stainless steel headers
AFE intake with heat shield
Turner Motorsports under drive pulleys on alternator. power steering and water pump
Shark tuning software from ECS Motorsports (dyno proven 20 hp. increased rev-limit. car runs and sounds amazing)
Stainless steel muffler with dual rounded rectangle tips
Clear OEM side markers (the ones that don't turn yellow after a month…)
JDM diamond quilt steering wheel cover
JDM crushed diamond cup holders. mirror. seat belt stoppers
It would cost at least ~15k to build an E39 Touring to this level. including all the required maintenance that most people skimp on in the quest for a look. If you think about it. for the price of these wheels and tires. the M5 seats. the ST coilovers and the headers plus all the custom work to make them fit. and a few of the other mods. it's like paying for that and get a free fully restored E39 Touring that is minty clean inside and out. top to bottom.
The only thing I haven't done is fix the minor oil leak. I have just topped it off a couple times a year and it's never really bothered me. it was the final thing on my "to-do" list if I was keeping the car. The airbag light is on due to the M5 seats which use a slightly different wiring harness than this car came with (this car was manufactured between 08/98-03/99. the only months they used this particular 3-wire seat belt buckle). I never bothered to address it. but to remedy this you only need a 2 ohm resistor and trace the wires in the harness from the seat belt buckle (BMW decided to go from a 3-wire connector to a 2-wire connector. same plug. different number of wires. took months to figure it out and then never bothered doing it). Apart from these two items. everything on the car works flawlessly and I get into parking lot conversations about it regularly.
The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. You are welcome to come see the car yourself and drive it home. I have shipped a few cars cross-country. so I am willing to help you get that sorted out. it's about 1000. 00 to ship a car give or take a few dollars. If you want to fly out and drive it home. the best way to get to know a car IMO. I will gladly pick you up at LAX or Long Beach airport.
NO RESERVE PRICE. HIGH BIDDER GETS THIS BEAUTIFUL CAR!
