Here is a very unique speedster. created from a very rare car.  Although the build was done a long time ago. the lifetime indoor storage and selective use of the car has preserved it to the point where it looks like it was only recently built.  Extensive use of brass. monocle windshield with beveled glass. a finished wood dashboard. beautifully painted undercarriage. wood spoke wheels. hidden battery. and even the oversized gearshift knob are just some of the many attributes of this car which make it stand out in a crowd.
This car was originally commissioned by the grandson of the inventor of Tums. who then donated it to the St. Louis Museum of Transportation in the 1970s.  It remained there for decades.  It eventually became a part of the well-known John O'Quinn collection in Houston.
Recent work includes a light rebuild of the engine. involving new intake and exhaust manifold gaskets. new water chamber gaskets. water pump seals. cylinder block cleanout. and radiator cleanout and testing.  Some headlight wiring was replaced with period correct cloth sheathed wire.
The engine is a sleeve valve Knight Series 60.  Those familiar with sleeve valve engines know that they characteristically burn a large amount of oil. and this is no exception. Upon warming up. however. there is less smoke.
Falcons were only produced in 1927 and 1928. so this is a one of a kind speedster built from an already rare car.  The brass appointments and quality workmanship set it apart from the typical speedsters. Far more extraordinary then your typical custom built speedster. this is a truly unique car.
I have many more pictures of the Falcon. as well as higher resolution versions of the ones you see here. so feel free to contact me with your email address if you'd like to see more.
