HILLMAN MINX MK8 (De Luxe) - 4 DOOR SALOON - BLUE - DECEMBER 1955

I have decided to sell my lovely 1955 Hillman Mink Mk8 De-Luxe saloon.

Having two other classic cars. I can no longer devote 1000% to each and as such one of them has to go - sadly it's the Minx.

Bought this vehicle just over a year ago and it has provided me with trouble free motoring; although I have not done as many miles as I would have liked for one reason or another.

As you can see by the photos the car is in lovely condition. both inside and out.

There have been 3x previous owners with the last owner having the vehicle from May 1998 until I purchased it in August 2012.

For all you Minx buffs. this vehicle was supplied with the later 1390ohv engine which was then fitted in to the Minx Series 1 & 2 vehicles. This engine was overhauled by the previous owner and now benefits from having an unleaded cylinder head.

The engine runs beautifully and ticks over as it should; the addition of a very recent electronic ignition has made it smoother than ever. Even before the electronic ignition it started on the button. first time every time.

Manual 4-speed gearbox operated via column control is effortless to say the least.

I've just had a new clutch kit fitted as the last one (probably the original) was past its best and whilst this was being done the engine + gearbox mountings were also replaced.

Rest of the running gear works perfectly with no issues.

Steering & suspension is 100% which I would expect as it has numerous greasing points to achieve this.

Brakes are spot on and it stops on a sixpence; the car is running with new radials (165x15) with plenty of tread.

All the electrics work and the vehicle was converted to negative earth by the previous owner.

Quite rare on these cars is that it actually comes with a radio (original) and a heater; both of which were extras when purchased.

The underside of the car is rock solid and although I have placed a couple of photos on the listing. I can send you some additional pics if you require plus other support photos.

The bodywork. in a powder blue (lovely) is in excellent condition and the only 2x points worthy of mention is that there is a small scratch on the rear nearside panel (see photo) and a few minor (and I mean very minor) bubbles on the rear offside wheel arch. I tried to photograph these but they are so small you could not see them in the picture.

Chrome work is lovely with no damage or dents etc.

New top & bottom rad hoses fitted along with replacing the heater hoses.

Instrumentation works perfectly and is set in an unmolested dashboard as you can see in the photo.

All seats are comfy with no sagging and in perfect condition; as you can see the car comes with a bench seat.

Overall. this really is a wonderful car and a real head turner. It has been used for film productions and remains on their listing for possible further filming opportunities.

Other than the scratch and the very minor bubbles. it's exceptionally difficult to fault. If I was going to be super picky it does pop now and again from the exhaust on overrun; it's always been that way and has never affected the cars performance so I've just left it at that.

The car is based in Uckfield. East Sussex and constantly garaged.

Car comes with the V5 log book registered to me and of course the car is MOT exempt and has Historic tax status. Current tax expires May 2014.
