Proud to offer for sale this 2 owner US version of 280 SEL with a 4. 5 engine approx.   280SELs are becoming rare and hard to find. This one has 61252 miles with a clean VA title on-hand and always garaged.    The car recently went through a partial interior and exterior restoration.   I will try to accurately describe the car however if there is anything I missed. please ask me and I will respond to you as quickly as I can. This does interest a lot of people as a beautiful silver beauty in a time capsule from the German 70s era… All fluids checked and changed when necessary.  Not a "pebble beach" show car but a good car which will make the new buyer satisfied.  I have sold few 70s 280 SELs and a 450SEL…all my buyers were happy. no negative feedback. Engine/Brakes/Battery: Starts rights up after being idle for weeks. when parked no leaks. chassis clean and dry.   No engine. transmission or differential leaks.  Engine oil and filter changed. New air filter. Brakes are fine now Complete Engine Tune up completed. new rotor. distributor cap. wires. plugs (all bosch) … New brake rotors and premium pads for all 4 wheels installed. The hood does have a new OEM hood insulator.   Battery New. Cost $1000.

Data Card: Original Data Card comes with the sale. Built date is 9/1972.

Transmission: Column shift transmission. Serviced and with no hesitation in shifting. Column shift indicator works. There is no leaks.  

Under Chassis: Clean and dry with no oil leaks.  When parked. you may have a drop or two power steering fluid leak.

Front Grill: Star and emblem ate good condition. Nice chrome and good shape except for a few small dings only visible at close up. (see picture)

Dash: Clean with no tears.

Clock: Doesn't work.

Side Mirrors: Good Chrome. no pitting has the optional passenger side mirror too.

Paint: The paint is original DB735 "Astral Silver" … newer paint. No surface rust.  Door jams. engine fender inside. Radiator. Fan etc were all were painted. Truck inside including lid were also painted. 2 penny size dents in the rear hard to capture in the picture. Also one dent (see picture) on the driver side fender. Cost $3500

Rubber: Car has mostly all new rubber…All 4 OEM door rubber door sills are new. all 4 doors and trunk rubber gaskets. All four door frame post rubber. Cost $600

Suspension System:  No issues. Replace front and rear struts/shocks OEM Parts/Bilsteen. new sway bar links. new tie rods less than 100 miles ago. Cost $ 700.

Leather/Carpet/Headliner:  New floor carpets. new front leather seats. head rests. center pad. hand rest etc. All professionally special ordered and installed in California.   Cost $3500

Steering: Steering is tight. Steering wheel and horn pad are clean and looks very nice.

Radio: Has a new Pioneer set with new Pioneer rear speakers.  Becker Radio and original speakers come with the car.

Door Panels: All door panels and caps are in good condition with no fading/rips etc.  Door bottom rubber "sills" replaced with new Mercedes rubber imported from Germany. $200.   (see pictures)

Door Lock: Doors vacuum locks do not work.  Could be a vacuum leak.

Tires:4 NEW Firestone Affinity …Cost $500

Glass: All glass are excellent with no cracks/scratches. All windows regulators do operate for a smooth glass movement. except from front driver side. it doesn't go all the way up but stalls an half an inch short.

Rear Hat Shelf: Good condition.

Muffler: New from mid section muffler. New imported stainless steel muffler tips. See pictures ($500)

Wood:  The woodwork is all very good. No fading. slight cracking at close up.

Air Condition/Heat: AC might need a charge. Compressor does come on. Heat works as well as the blower. The one heater lever is broken. have two new Bilstein levers for the left levers but didn't get a chance to put it in. 3 heater levers are not broken and they do slide.   

Horn: Works

Chrome: All interior/exterior chrome are beautiful with a shine to it. There are some small dings in the rear bumper but the bumper rubber is straight and good.

Trunk: Clean with new trunk carpet (cost $200) . tools. spare tire. No rubber mat.

Electrical: Instrumental Cluster recently serviced with all new bulbs. Glass all cleaned.  All electric work including power windows switches. wipers. horn. interior/dash/exterior lights including the trunk light. Even it has the original electric Hirschman antenna which doesn't retract.   $500

Documentation: The car comes with a fair amount of maintenance and parts receipts. manuals. original data card. Becker Europa factory manual. etc.
