1960 VOLVO PV 544, restored, multiple car show winner, rare roof rack for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.5) based on 660 votes
Up for sale is this wonderfully preserved rust free 1960 Volvo PV 544. The restoration was mostly done in 1979 by a Volvo aficionado. The B16 engine was rebuilt and the car received a fresh professional repaint of the original California white. Glass and rubber was replaced and the interior was freshened up. New bumpers were added. Everything used was Volvo NOS parts. The car has only been driven about 20. 00 miles in the 34 years since it was restored. always garaged. The owner. who did the restoration sold it to me only because he was in his 80's and could no longer drive a stick shift car.
In the past 12 months a new set of BF Goodrich Silvertown G rated 5. 9 x 15 wide whitewalls were added. Vintage advertising shows these same tires as optional for 1960 on the 544 and in the dealer brochure for the 544 in 1960. it wears these tires. The Volvo signature hub caps are excellent. The original interior was blue and white. as shown in the photos. the original blue remains but the white parts have been dyed to British tan. It's a unique combination and quite distinctive. These cars originally had a rubber matted flooring which. over time. became brittle and disintegrated. The mats have been removed and replaced with carpeting. An aftermarket 1980's vintage am/fm Blaupunkt cassette was added which works flawlessly. A new battery was installed spring 2013. This 544 is still the original 6 volt system. For those true Volvo fanatics. yes. this 544 still has the chain pull radiator screen (for those cold Swedish nights)
This past spring I had a custom made roof rack built in Denmark to the same original rack specs for this vintage. I also added a new blue tinted sun visor. fitted specifically for the 544.
There are two needs that I am aware of. a very slight leaking brake master cylinder (I will provide a new one for the buyer to install). and the odometer has stuck at 19999. These odometers are known to stick on occasion and I have not gone under the dash to free up the numbers. The speedometer and trip odometer work fine as do all other gauges.
The Volvo takes several cranks to start after it has sat awhile. until the SU carbs are properly filled with gas. it runs great and does not leak any oil on my garage floor and never burns oil. The clutch and all 4 forward and reverse gears engage and shift as they should. All in all. one of the nicer 544's you are going to find. The exterior is a 9/10. not flawless as there are a few very small nicks here and there but the photos tell the real story.
I entered this 544 into two car shows this year. a regional show where it won 1st place for all imports. and a Volvo only show where it took first place for best overall classic. One of the photos shows the trophy's on the hood of the car.

I would be interested in your car. I have been looking for a few years and yours is in great shape from what I can see. Is it still available?
