Up for sale . My 1973 Triumph Stag. Development began in the 1960s on Triumphs new "High end" sports car targeting sales of the Mercedes SL two seat convertible at half the price. Power steering. power brakes. automatic transmission. power windows. Hidden soft top. and air conditioning (no compressor in this car) were among the first for a Triumph sporting car.  Modern Mcpherson strut front end and the TR-6 beautiful aluminum independent rear end were included. sadly instead of the tremendous straight six from the TR-6. they opted for a rushed to production triumph V8. Which proved highly unreliable. Labor and design issues caused all sorts of problems.  This Stag has a 1979 Ford 2. 8L Capri V6 with a Ford C4 transmission. A Ford of germany designed solid lifter motor. which was oddly the most powerful engine you could get in a 1974 Mustang II. If you plan on driving this a lot. it's for the best. The last picture with the hardtop is the car as i got it.       Condition: The paint and chrome is tremendous with "miles and miles" of clear as the previous owner stated. The wheels are aftermarket bolt on chrome wires.  The interior is all new and heavy vinyl. but not in the original stitch pattern.       What i've done: rebuilt the front end with new bushings and Spax adjustable shocks (set at one notch down from the stiffest setting). rear end rebuilt with all bushings. nitrogen shocks and bearings in the rear end. new motor and transmission mounts. new Stag "side by side" stainless exhaust. rebuilt carburater. heads and valve job. electric fuel pump. alternator and starter.  I also put in a pretty tremendous stereo system. new soft top and beautiful hardtop with new headliner. new motors on the power windows and the wiring gone through. also new wiper motor. New brake master cylinder and pads.       What doesn't work: the speedometer/odometer(the outer cable is there but the inner cable is missing). the handle for the inner driver door lock is broken off. it's a little lever under the door release hard to see. when the engine is cold if you jump the gas it likes to hesitate or stall. I'm guessing Choke adjustment. at the beginning of every season it needs brakes fluid. don't see a leak. I bought new rear brake cylinders and never put them in. all the air conditioning under the dash is there. I capped the lines inside the engine compartment.       I like to drive my cars and keep them up accordingly. which is funny because i'm passing this one on in favor of a very un-drivable 1940 Packard. This is a very drivable classic. it's small size and power everything make it an easy to drive car. but on the highway the gearing is too low. I guess England is small. One last thing. The movie still in the photos is from the James Bond film "Diamonds are forever". in it Sean Connery kills a diamond smuggler and takes his car. a yellow Triumph Stag.
