Here is a classic bug from 1969 that has been in one family its whole life and has 37. 42 miles on it.  The bug was purchased by my grandmother new in 1969 at a VW dealership on the National Highway (Route 40) near Baltimore.  She had it there for a short time before moving to Gaithersburg. MD.  Around 1970-71 she had the paint renewed in same factory color after some misguided small grandchildren (me and my brother and sister) threw pebbles against the car as she left to go home one time as a way of christening the car I suppose :-).  There were some nicks from the pebbles so she had it repainted and never said anything to my dad.  Those same grandchildren referred to the car as Grandma's "Put-put car" because of the sound a VW engine makes.
She seldom drove the car on the highway. never in bad weather and had maintenance done on a regular interval.  It appears she had the underside Ziebarted.
My father inherited the vehicle from her in 1988.  He kept it garaged and infrequently drove it until around 2005 when he moved.  At this time. he had the vehicle restored which consisted of renewing parts (carburetor. fuel pump). new tires and had a new interior put in.  My grandmother smoked cigarettes and this is perhaps why my father had the interior replaced.  It does not smell like cigarettes but still has the smell I remember from when I was a child which I find familiar and pleasant.  The original interior was an off white.  I believe the car still has the original carpets. front shelf. and headliner.  My father probably drove the car less than 4000 miles since 2005 and had maintenance done to it on a regular basis.  I believe my dad did not drive this car when there was salt on road.  The underside of car retains Ziebart application and shows only minor rust.  Exhaust is original.
My father did not operate the vehicle for at least the last 3 years.
My mother inherited the car from my dad last year.  She cannot drive the car and my sister and I have no room for it.  Therefore we have decided it needs a new owner. We genuinely want it to go to another buyer that will appreciate and take care of it.
I drained the fuel tank. had new fuel lines installed. an oil change with filter (screen cleaned) and installed a new battery.  The car started right away and runs well.  It drives straight and tracks well.  The brakes which are drum type bring the car to stop with no pulling.  The transmission is VW's "autostick" which was introduced in 1969 and allowed for changing gears electronically without the use of a clutch pedal.  It works well and easily shifts through all gears.  Here is a vintage commercial from 1969 for this transmission: Auto shifter
The car was washed with no wax and is as seen in pictures.  I highlighted the rear bumper damage that must have been done by my dad when he got older (one of his other cars also had rear bumper damage).
Please message me for additional photos.  I encourage any potential buyer to contact me with any questions they may have about the vehicle. logistics and seeing the vehicle in person.  Inspection is encouraged and welcome.  We can arrange to have an inspection done by an ASE certified service center at buyer's expense.
We want the buyer to be pleased with the vehicle and to feel he or she got a fair deal.  We also want to feel we got a fair deal.
Deposit must be received within 24-hours of commitment to purchase.   Payment only by cash or wire transfer.  The vehicle will only be released once funds are at the bank and any necessary due diligence has been done to confirm transaction authenticity.
