Please do not bid if you have no intention of paying! This car was won by baham_jairo a couple of weeks ago and he never even sent a deposit. nor even had the decency to return a message. PLEASE DON'T BE LIKE THAT DEAD BEAT!
Please read completely and be sure you understand everything being said. Ask any questions before bidding. This car will be put for sale locally for the first time. so I reserve the right to end the auction early.
So let's talk about the car.
THIS CAR IS A CLONE OF A GRAND NATIONAL! NOT A GENUINE GRAND NATIONAL. IT IS NEARLY COMPLETE. AND ONCE IT IS COMPLETE THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS CAR AND A $50. 00 GRAND NATIONAL WILL BE A SINGLE DIGIT IN THE VIN. OF COURSE. IF YOU ARE BIDDING ON THIS CAR YOU ALREADY KNOW THAT AND UNDERSTAND THAT GRAND NATIONALS ARE EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE AND IF THIS CAR WERE 100% COMPLETE IT WOULD BE SELLING FOR FAR MORE MONEY THAN IT IS.
It is being sold the same way every other car on EBay is sold. with no warranty. as seen. as is. where is and all that fun stuff.
I bought this car partially cloned. with the intention of installing a 383 STROKER MOTOR. a 350 Turbo transmission. and a 9 inch Ford rear end. It just didn't make sense to pay $30. 00-$50. 00 for a mint looking Grand National. just to pull out the very things that decipher a Grand National from a Regal. Then suddenly I found myself turning it into a regular Grand National anyway. SO here is your chance to finish what will be one of the best looking Grand Nationals in the country. for a fraction of what it would cost to buy one. SIMPLY BECAUSE THERE IS ONE DIGIT DIFFERENT IN THE VIN.
Here is what the car has:
The body is rust and rot free. as far as I can tell from going over it under it and through it as best as a person can when looking at a car for the first time without tools or a lift). The body is absolutely laser straight. and is such a deep black with such a mirror image. that I have been pulled over by local police just so they could look at the car. TRUE STORY! Because I have been putting so much work into the car it only has a couple thousand miles on it since the body and paint was done. The total mileage on the car is only around 57. 00.
You must realize that if you are looking for a complete and true Grand National. you are going to spend at minimum of $40. 00 more then you will on this car in order to find one that looks this nice. I got an estimate of around $3000-$5000 more to turn this car into 100% Grand National and you will still be $35. 00 AHEAD of the game.
Here is what I have already done. and if you know what you are talking about. or want to take the time to look around. you will see that I have more than $17. 00 into this car between parts and labor.
The door skins are 1987 Grand National skins from Highwaystars. com
The hood is a turbo hood from a 1987 Grand National that I had the common Grand National issues fixed and painted. It also has the Turbo Buick hood insulator from a 1987 Grand National!
I installed the COMPLETE gray dashboard from a 1987 Grand National and it is FLAWLESS.
I bought a middle shifter console from a 1987 Grand National. but have not installed it. (New owner will have to)
I installed a steering wheel from a 1987 Grand National. but the steering COLUMN has to remain a regular Regal column until you change the console in the middle because the shifter is on the column. I DO HOWEVER HAVE A STEERING COLUMN FROM A 1987 GRAND NATIONAL THAT WILL BE INCLUDED.
Both front seats are from a 1987 Grand National and are installed. The rear seat is also from a 1987 Grand National but I have not installed it (literally takes 45 seconds to do) because I just bought a brand new black rug for a 1987 Grand National to be installed by the new owner. But the rear seat is gorgeous as well.
Both of the lower door panels are from a 1987 Grand National.
Both of the upper door panels are from Gbody. com.
All the hard plastic throughout the interior are from a 1987 Grand National.
So up to this point if you parked my car next to a $50. 00 Grand National. you would not be able to tell them apart except for the fact that my paint is a high end. and very new paint job. and looks much better than most Grand Nationals that are for sale out there.
Mechanically a Grand National has a turbo. When I realized that I have an extremely good looking car that is uncommonly straight and rot free. I also realized that I could build a Grand National motor. install a Grand National transmission and I would have an exact clone of a Grand National. only BRAND NEW. and looking far better. and FOR $30. 00-$40. 00 LESS THAN BUYING A GRAND NATIONAL OF EQUAL QUALITY!!!
So I bought a used aftermarket Turbo. The one you see in the photo. It will have to be installed by the new owner.
The Air Conditioning was still from 1987 so I updated it and filled it. Now it blows ICE COLD!
I bought a 1987 Grand National transmission (200R4) or 2004R depending on how you want to say it. The transmission was used. and had been rebuilt by the person I bought it from. It has not been installed. and I only opened the case to see if I could spot any obvious damage. Obviously I could not see any.
I installed high quality shocks all the way around. and gave the car a $600 tune up. It runs a little rough when you first start it or you start it in cold weather. but once she's warm the car runs great! It is 30 plus years old!
The wheels are a one-off wheel (sort of). I saw the type of wheel I liked but they didn't make it for this car so I had these wheels specially made by American Racing. EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE! Of course. the tires are in great shape as well since there is not a whole lot of miles on them. About the same as the paint in fact!
The weather stripping is also 30 years old and starting to dry and crack around the door. so I removed the weather stripping. and bought new stripping but it needs to be installed by the new owner. Don't worry about it getting water inside because like I said it is always stored inside or under a cover and is never driven in the rain.
Also there is not much more to finish this car off. When finished this car with have everything that a $50. 00 Grand National has. ONLY NEWER. and for TENS OF THOUSANDS of DOLLARS LESS!
Or you could buy a rotted out Grand National. with no floors. no interior. a seized engine. missing glass. and rats living in it for the same price I am asking for this car.
So why don't I finish it you ask? I already own a Grand National and a few other Hot Rods. I simply bought this one to go in a different direction with it and decided not to.
I'll say it again…these cars do not read the numbers on a VIN. They don't know they are cloned. and neither will anyone else. Why pay the extra tens of thousands of dollars SIMPLY BECAUSE OF ONE SINGLE DIGIT IN THE VIN. Think about it!
