1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT

Up for sale is the darling I chased for years but finally got it and can't drive anymore due to a knee injury. This vr-4 is in great condition especially for its age. Just replaced a lot of the emissions systems to pass cali smog. Has lots of love put into this mostly stock vr4. Only changes are wheels. motor mounts. shocks and the spark plug wires. Everything else is stock. Sadly I do not have the cd magazine for the car stereo or the stock wheels. Lots of parts have been replaced for maintenance and the car drives great. This is the very car that was written about in Jalopnik.  I hate to see her go but having her just sit in my garage collecting the 600 miles I've put on her the last year of ownership is doing this beauty a disservice. Any questions please let me know. As the car is 18 years old now. it runs great and works as it should but vehicle does not come with any warranty. I'll gladly send over the repair list done to pass smog and it's check over the car to anyone that would like it. The car is protected in my garage until it's picked up.

Up for sale is one of the most iconic and sought after sports coupes ever made. and the last turbocharged all-wheel-drive 2-door mid-size car Mitsubishi ever sold in the US - the 1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. It is extremely rare. as there were only 287 made and imported to the US. This car is chassis #148. made on April 1st. 1999 in Mitsubishi's Nagoya Plant in Japan.  

This car is all original and stock. with the exception of the wheels. tires. and suspension.  

Documentation

Included with the car is a folder containing documentation and receipts totaling over $4. 00 for repairs and maintenance items.  

Engine/Mechanical: 

The engine runs perfectly and doesn't leak or burn any coolant or oil. No check engine or warning lights are present. The spark plugs are new NGK Platinums. A K&N Panel air filter was also added for better flow.  

The valve cover gaskets were recently changed and there are no oil leaks around or underneath the engine bay. The timing belt. water pump. tensioner. and crank pulley were replaced this year with OEM Mitsubishi components. receipts in hand.  

The turbo wastegate solenoid was recently changed with an OEM Mitsubishi unit. and all vacuum lines were replaced. The car comes into boost beautifully and has no signs of turbo wear in the intake stream.  

New 3SX OEM motor mounts were installed last year. Solid mounts will be included as well.  

The transmission was replaced with a brand new Getrag 6spd manual unit by the previous owner at 90k miles. as well as the clutch with an OEM unit. The car shifts very smoothly and no gears grind at any speed.  

Exhaust:

The exhaust is the factory dual tailpipe unit that came with the car.  The pre-cats were gutted by the previous owner to promote longevity of the turbos and give the car a bit more power throughout the rev range. The main catalytic converter is still in place and it will pass any emissions inspection in the US.  

Interior:

The interior of this car is in amazing shape. The passenger's seat has some very slight bolster wear. but there aren't any rips or tears in the leather. A new OEM Mitsubishi shift knob and real leather shift boot were installed. All functions works perfectly and the car is a great smoke-free example of the most desirable color combination VR4.  

Exterior:

The car's exterior is in great shape. with no major dings or dents on the bodywork. The paint code is R71 Caracas Red and is all original with no repainted panels. The bodywork has a few small blemishes. There is a slight nickel-sized ding on the very front of the hood and also a few scratches and scuff marks on the corners of the car. The sunroof has about 1/4 inch of slight paint bubbling in the center near the rubber seal. and the front bumper and hood have rock chips from age. but nothing unreasonable for a car that's nearly 20 years old. The paint looks spectacular and buffs to a high gloss without issue.

Suspension:

The car's suspension is in amazing shape. It consists of a Tein Type Flex adjustable coilovers with EDFC. The dampening of the suspension can be controlled from inside the car. on the fly with 3 customizable settings. The car has been lowered approximately 1. 8 inches and has no rubbing issues at all. Outer tie rod ends were replaced one month ago with OEM replacements.  

Wheels/Tires:

The wheels are brand new Rota P45R 18x9. 5 wheels. with 265/35/18 tires all around. This combination is one of the best looking and performing combinations for this car. bar none. The front tires are Continental ContiSport Z-rated tires. and rears are Pirelli PZero Z-rated. each with around 50-60 percent tread depth remaining with no signs of camber wear. There is very minimal road noise and the car handles like it's on rails.  

Electronics/Audio:

The audio system is the premium Infinity CD/Tape/Aux unit that originally came with the car. The optional Mitsubishi 6-CD changer is included in the trunk. but it's missing its CD magazine. All speakers and functions work like new. with new Infiniti Reference speakers installed in the doors. All lights and switches work flawlessly. Two keys and one keyless fob are included.  

An aftermarket 6500K HID kit is installed in the headlights.  

Air Conditioning: 

AC blows ice cold and heat blows hot through all vents. No issues at all. no matter how hot or cold the weather gets 

Brakes:

The brakes are in great condition and don't exhibit any grinding with lots of life left on the pads. but can pulsate slightly at speeds above 80 miles per hour. The rotors could stand to be replaced within the next few months. Everything works as it should and brake fluid was topped up and checked recently. Parking brake holds the car flawlessly.
