1967 Dodge Polara Convertible Great Running 383 Garage Find! for sale

This auction is for a 1967 Dodge Polara convertible that was found in a garage here a few months ago. I bought the car becasue of three things - it is super rare. had great potential. and the chrome was as straight as can be - terrific gaps. never hit or molested. devoid of all the dings and scrapes that plague old cars all the time. I had it loaded up and brought here. drained the gas tank. flushed it. put in fresh gas. a new battery. and fired it right up! The car runs great even though it had been sitting for 6 years - no knocks. no missing. no smoking. no rattling. The 383 V-8 and automatic transmission are original to the car. The headlights. taillights. turn signals. all worked!
The mechanical downsides: The brakes are terrible. I have driven the car back and forth across the yard. backed it up. moved it around. but only one or two wheels have working brakes. There is no way to drive it home. Also. the tires are terrible. Dry-rotted and need to be replaced. Bring a trailer or transport truck. It will drive up on it. if you take it easy enough to stop in time! I'm pretty gutsy about driving old cars on the road. but there is NO way I would chance it. and never have with this car. The power top went up and down right away just like it should. but the top has shrunk so much over time (it is 45 years old. after all!) that it was a LOT of effort to get it latched again. You REALLY have to push down hard on it to get the latches to catch. That said. it fires right up every time. sits there and idles on its own. doesn't run hot - and all this without even putting in any tune-up parts or doing anything to the carburetor!
Did I mention how nice the original chrome is? Of course. it is 45 years old. so there is a little pitting and some weathering. but it is really exceptional for an original car.
Interior: This is great! The carpet needs to be replaced. but the dash has NO cracks. the door panels have NO rips or cracks and the seats also have NO rips. holes. cracks. or anything like that! The original top boot is also included! Put some carpet in and your interior is finished. It does have the original spare with triple-whitewall bias-ply tire. and jack and etc. Neat!
This car features the fairly rare and optional 15" wheels and hubcaps. as it has when it left the factory. These were available on full-size Dodges and Chryslers for 1967 and 68.
You get a clean. clear Florida title. There is some rust on the body as you can see. There are also rusty places in the floorpans that you will want to replace. The frame and other undercarriage parts of the car are surface rusty and dirty. but essentially fine - just need to be cleaned up. The mileage is "exempt" on the title becasue the car is over 20 years old as per Florida law. but it very well could be original - the interior is just too nice to think it could have been turned over.
