Jaguar XJS Convertible 4.0ltr - 1995

Model History

The Jaguar XJS had the unenviable task of following the 1961 to 1975 E-Type Jaguar that set the standard for luxury sport cars. The 1987 Jaguar XJS is one of the 1975 to 1996 XJS luxury grand tourers. The XJS is more aerodynamic than the E-Types. but earned mediocre reviews for its perceived poor workmanship during the strike-plagued 1970s of the auto industry in England. However. XJS models have since become highly sought collectibles.

Interior & Equipment

The navy sports leather electric seats are unmarked. the walnut trim dash and door cards are again unmarked. the original blur carpets are excellent throughout. All the gauges and switches work perfectly as they should. The interior of this XJ is simply elegant and compliments the metallic ice blue exterior.

Exterior

The metallic ice blue paintwork is very good throughout with no evidence of rust/rot or blistering. The original electric hood as all good. the brightwork. glass and decals are all perfect. She supports a dual red/silver coachline which enhances the external appearance of this elegant motorcar. Being the facelift model she has the more aerodynamic front and rear bumpers. A brand new roof at a cost of 1000 pounds has just been fitted

Wheels. Tyres & Brakes

The original 16" Jaguar alloy wheels are unmarked and she sits on premium all matching Pirelli P6000 225/55 tyres.

Engine & Transmission

The 4. 0ltr straight 6 cylinder 24v DOHC fuel injected engine is super smooth and the automatic gearbox operates perfectly. The engine has been very well maintained over the years benefitting from the owner being a fully qualified mechanic with his own well established business. As you can imagine no bolt has been left unturned with this car. many of the inherent quirks of owning and XJS have been covered including head work. new stem seals. new air conditioning pump. brake caliper rebuild etc etc the list goes on and on. Mechanically the attention to detail is second to none which is a great piece of mind when buying a used XJS.

Summary

Excellent Example of a rare 2+2

This beautiful and rare face lift Jaguar XJ-S Convertible has only covered a mere 5500 miles in the last 6 years. This was a true Sunday afternoon car for its fastidious former owner. a new convertible hood has just been fitted

These later facelift XJS 2+2 Convertibles were made in small numbers and examples such as this are becoming difficult to find hence making them a sound investment for the future.
