Hi all!

Thanks for stopping by my auction.   Available for your consideration is a beautiful 1959 DeSoto Firedome Sportsman Coupe.   I am selling this vehicle for a friend. and as the owner of a Fireflite 4-door hardtop. it's taking all of my willpower not to keep it for myself.   Coupes of this vintage and condition are becoming extremely rare. and this is a nice example of one.   Here's a brief description of the car (please also see photos).

From the Outside:

The body is in generally good condition with one obvious major flaw.   At some point the brow above the passenger-side headlamp came in contact with the tailfin of another car. and creased it.   Other than this flaw. the paint and body work are quite tidy. albeit with a few imperfections and not original.   The paint has a nice gloss level. and there is only a minimal amount of pitting and/or dull spots on the chrome bumpers.   Doors. windows. hood and trunk open as they should.   The trunk weatherstrip has flattened with age. and will need to be replaced.   The trunk itself is clean.   Nothing seems out of whack except for the whacked headlamp brow.

From the Inside:

The interior is also tidy but does have some signs of wear.   As is typical for this vintage of DeSoto. the front seat foam has begun to deteriorate and will need to be replaced.   And with the deterioration of the foam. the seat fabric on the lower front cushion has also begun to wear in spots.   The carpet is in good condition except for the heel pad.   At some point the dash was reupholstered and has seams that were not original to the car. but looks decent.   The headliner is also very nice.

Under The Hood:

All's in order under hood.   The vehicle has over 78. 00 miles. and I am uncertain if anything was ever rebuilt.   It starts reliably and drives nicely.   There are no odd creaks over uneven surfaces. and the steering does not wander.   The brakes pull at times and I would have these looked after.   The transmission shifts smoothly. although I noticed that the buttons that control the transmission will need alignment in their trim plate.   The car has not been driven regularly for some time. and so it will probably benefit from a general tune-up.   You'll probably want to buy tires as well.

Summary:

While by no means perfect. It's a very good looking car that could be driven as-is. or with very minor work could be made positively stunning.

The Fine Print:

First and foremost. please feel free to ask any questions.   Having bought and sold a number of cars on eBay. the only time I've been disappointed is when I didn't ask enough questions. There's simply no way to describe a classic car in its entirety here. and you may be particular about things that others are not.

The vehicle is available globally.   The buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements. and I ask that overseas bidders confirm their method of payment with me before bidding.   Failure to do so may result in the cancelation of your bid.

Bidders with 0 or negative feedback must contact me before bidding.

A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due within 48 of the auction close.   I will offer the vehicle to the next-highest bidder if the deposit is not given.

Final payment is due within 7 days of auction close.   Payment must be made and clear the bank before the vehicle will be given to the winner.

The car is also for sale locally and I reserve the option to end the auction early should it sell locally first.

That's it…

Thanks again for looking!

Update September 10:

Hi. all!

I received a couple of questions about the color. and sadly I don't have an option code catalog for 1959 to refer to.   Can any of you confirm which colors these represent?

- Interior color code 363
- Exterior color code XWX

Thanks for any help!
