MOTOR TRENDS is very pleased to offer this STUNNING 1956 Desoto Fireflite Sportsman that was restored in 2004 and again in 2007.   This car is an excellent driver and can be driven to all the local car shows you want.   This is not a new 2013 rotisserie car (it would be priced around 70k). but a VERY well kept example of a nice. period correct restoration done in 2007. thus a VERY. VERY impressive car and a wonderful driver.    This is an extremely well documented vehicle with pictures of the restoration process showing how nice the original car was before they started as well as how thorough they were in completing it.   It comes with receipts. manuals. photos. and tons of other pertinent information.   This car is definitely the one to win trophies and gain the admiration of car collectors everywhere!

 

HISTORY OF DESOTO:
The DeSoto (sometimes De Soto) was a brand of automobile based in the United States. manufactured and marketed by the now-defunct DeSoto Division of the Chrysler Corporation from 1928 to 1961. The DeSoto logo featured a stylized image of Hernando de Soto. The De Soto marque was officially dropped November 30. 1960. with over two million vehicles built since 1928.

The DeSoto make was founded by Walter Chrysler on August 4. 1928. and introduced for the 1929 model year. It was named after the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto. Chrysler wanted to enter the brand in competition with its arch-rivals General Motors. Studebaker. and Willys-Knight. in the mid-price class.

330 cubic inches - Punched to 341 cubic inches. producing 255 horsepower. Rebuilt with modern reliability updates. i. e. Hardened valve seats (for modern fuel). Chrome Valve Covers. Rebuilt Powerflite 2-speed automatic transmission. Upgraded conversion to 4-wheel disc brakes.

Pink Shell and White exterior (Original Colors). 15" Motor Wire Wheels with Wide Whitewall Tires. Rechromed Bumpers and polished trim.
