1968

Relisted as the previous winner purchased the car for her husband as a surprise and he wanted a P5. They did not even view the car.

This car was supplied by C H Truman & Co Ltd of Nottingham on the 28/11/1968. It has had 4 previous owners. of those being from 2007. It was last used in 2009 and parked up in the garage with a gear box fault. It was last MOT'd in October 2008 and it passed it's MOT with no advisory items and the mileage was 71988. I have checked back on the VOSA MOT history and it goes back as far as 2006 and every MOT it has had since then the car has passed with no advisory items. This car is totally original apart from it does not have the original radio.  

This car was purchased by us last week and recovered back to our garage. Since then we have drained the old petrol out of the tank and fuel lines. ut fresh petrol in the tank and changed the oil and filters and charged up the battery. We then turned the key and it started first time.

The engine it's self is in perfect running order. I have started it every day from cold since we have had the car and all you have to do is pull the choke out and turn the key and she starts first time. There is not even a rattle or a hint of smoke or even a missfire. nd no blows from the exhaust. The radiator is also new.

The gearbox does how ever have a problem. You can go anywhere you like in the car as long as it is in reverse. This is a common problem with these Borg Warner 35 boxes and the Borg Warner 36 gearbox fitted to the later models. The 4 way clutch goes in them and you loose all forward gears. nd it is £350. 00 to repair them.

I have driven the car around our yard a few times in reverse and all the brakes work as does the hand brake.

The body work and paint seem to all be the original and the car appears to have never had any paintwork or repairs carried out. Apart from a small area where the front wing joins the front valance below the bumper. There are the odd marks round the car with a couple of small bubbles under the paint and when i say small the camera would not even show them. This car has no rust holes and none that have been covered up.  To be honest i cannot believe how good the body work is. The car still has the original 1968 number plates fitted with the chrome plate of the dealer name still attached to them.

The chrome work around the windows is unmarked as well as the chrome petrol cap. oor handles. oor buttons. oor locks. ront and rear window surrounds. ipers. ront bumper. irrors and rear number plate surround. The rear bumper is slightly pitted. ut none of the chrome is flakeing off.

The interior of the car is in really good condition with no rips or tears and totally original. There are no speakers been fitted in doors or any holes drilled anywhere. All the windows are original including the windscreen and the original heated rear window is still intact. The car still has the original jack with wooden handle and wheel brace and original spare wheel cover in boot.  

Every thing that is fitted to the car works apart from the gearbox.

I also have all the original owners and maintenance manuals that came with the car.
