ROAD TEST EDITOR JONATHAN WONG: I felt like a child driving this 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS Hot Wheels Edition over the weekend. The subtle blue flame decals on the rear quarter panels. black wheels and embroidered Hot Wheels logo badges on the front seat backs all helped me feel like a kid again.

The most striking thing about this special edition is the blue paint. It looks gorgeous on this Camaro and that's coming from a guy who isn't the biggest fan of this car to begin with. I remember seeing this at the Detroit auto show back in January and I liked it on the Chevy stand then and I really like it now.

Everything else is your typical Camaro SS with a throaty V8 churning away under the hood. There's power everywhere in the band. The six-speed manual transmission isn't the slickest unit you'll find with a slightly rubbery and vague feel.

As we all know. the Camaro could really improve in the weight department. It tips the scales at almost 3. 00 pounds. which is hefty. Combine that with a soft suspension and you feel all the weight moving around from side-to-side and under braking. Of course. Chevy does offer the 1LE package for the SS and the Z28 is coming later so there are some sharper Camaro options for people looking for better handling reflexes.

Steering has decent weight tuned into it and response to inputs. Overall. I prefer the Mustang's chassis tuning over the Camaro. The Ford feels more eager on the street. but obviously loses in the ride quality department with the live rear axle.

If you're looking for a street cruiser with presence and don't plan on hammering around a road course often. the Camaro SS is great choice. Even after being around for a few years it still gets looks. the interior is improved and it's comfortable to ride in even on broken Michigan roads. I enjoyed this car a lot. but I could definitely do without the large Hot Wheels logos in the seats.
