1978 Datsun 280Z with less than 30,700 original miles

HISTORY:

This 280Z was originally delivered on 11/05/1977 to Indianapolis. Indiana  by Doublemont Datsun Inc. out of Louisville. Kentucky.   Build date of 09/1977.   The 280Z was sold to another party (also in Indianapolis some years later). I purchased the car from the 2nd owner then made the trip to Stevensville. MI in July of 2005 with 19. 00 miles on the odometer.   Currently shows a true and accurate just under 30. 00 miles.   This 280z has led a very pampered life.   No rust ever. no accidents and has never seen a winter. Seldom driven in the rain. Paint is still in excellent condition with no dents or bubbles.   Has never had rust issues and retains ALL of its original sheet metal. Only maintenance type items have been replaced on this car. This is a truly original unmodified example of the 280Z.

INTERIOR:

Carpets. Seats. Door and Interior panels are original and in excellent condition with no rips or tears.   Center console in excellent condition.   The original clock works but loses a few minutes a week. All other gauges work as expected. There are no cracks in the dash (a rarity).  All body rubber is original and in very good condition.    A/C blows cold but currently has a leak in the system that must be repaired if you want working A/C.

The jack and related tools are complete and in excellent condition (unused).   The spare tire is original and has never been down.  

One Original Key and one copy. owners manual. warranty/service book included. The radio is not original. The first owner had a cassette player installed. It was removed and a 1976 Datsun 280z radio was installed. Radio works but sound quality is poor.

BODY:

 The 280Z has its original paint job.   After 35 plus years. the paint/body is still in excellent condition with no dents or bubbles.   There are a few minor scratches. Has never had rust issues and retains ALL of its original sheet metal.

Bright trim is almost perfect.   Bumpers are in excellent condition and shine like factory new. All Glass is original and in excellent condition.  

WHEELS AND TIRES:

 14 Inch original wheels with Datsun wire hubcaps and the original “mag” style hubcap that came with the car when new. The tires were purchased in 2003 but still have useful tread on them.  

ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN:

 Under 30. 00 actual miles.   Preferred 5 speed manual transmission. Clutch was rebuilt when car was in for service to replace faulty flywheel.  The 280Z runs and drives great. Clutch slave and master cylinder were replaced. Battery is not original. Starter was replaced due to flywheel issue.

EXHAUST:

 Exhaust pipe and muffler were replaced in 2013.

This car has less than 30. 00 original miles on it. Stored winters and never driven in the rain. Only normal maintenance parts have been replaced on this car. Paint and interior are in excellent condition. Original flawless dashboard. 5 speed manual transmission. Third owner since new. Comes with wire wheelcaps as shown and original hubcaps that came with the car. You will not find many nicer examples anywhere. Please e. mail with questions or concerns. As indicated there is a leak in the A/C system. The sunroof will leak if exposed to rain. Should be simple fix. The rear window defogger does not work. Not sure why. The oil pan requires a new seal to stop minor drip.
