MOT booked for next week (3rd May)

116. 150 miles from new with comprehensive main dealer and Saab specialist history. old MOT's etc.

Very tidy. eye-catching car that drives very well and goes like stink. even by modern standards. Local Saab specialist described the car as a “very good example”. Has passed last few MOT's with no advisories.

Usual spec. factory electric sunroof and windows. central locking. cruise control.

Clarion CD stereo.

Reluctant sale. not open to daft offers.

Classic car insurance costs us £125 a year comp. agreed value (45 year old with no points)

I grew up with Classic 900's; my father ran the technical training school for Saab GB for 20 odd years. I have owned 5. and there are still another 2 in the family! The T16 S is the one I always wanted. we have owned it for 2 years. nbsp;but unfortunately we need to be sensible and buy a family estate car. and a kit car is taking over the garage!

Although everybody comments how good the Turbo is. it is not immaculate (if it was it would be £5k plus). I want an enthusiast who knows these cars to appreciate it. so will describe it as honestly as possible.

Mechanical

Drives very well. engine. turbo. gearbox. clutch etc. all fine. Only fault in our ownership was lazy fuel pump. changed last year with relay.

Bodywork

Generally tidy. has had some paintwork in past to a good standard. Minor chipping to door edges. tailgate return and sunroof kept in check by regular polishing.

Usual problems on 900's are bonnet and door bottoms.  On this car bonnet is very good. door bottoms solid with surface rust in places. Boot floor. sills. arches etc. all good. Exceptionally tidy underneath.

Driver's door is slightly wrong shade. Slight dings to tailgate and bonnet (both could be dealt with by dent master type specialist) Cosmetic rust bubbles to tailgate bottom (under reg plate)

Rear bumper has parking dent; straight replacement second-hand bumper supplied with car (needs painting)

Previous owner a little over enthusiastic with rust proofing paint in lower engine bay. not prettiest job. but not hiding anything nasty.

Interior

Tidy. cloth trim very good. professionally fitted replacement headlining to high standard. Slight cracks to dash top (don't they all!)

Lazy drivers electric window. and scratched glass (very common). The glass can be polished and complete replacement window motor. regulator etc. will be supplied with car (second-hand but in good order) another job I never got round to!

Wheels and Tyres

Original 3 spoke alloys with minor scuffs and dings to rims. no balance issues. Tyres are good quality; tread ok but showing cracks on walls due to age.

If new owner wants them you can have a set of 4 Saab accessory ronal alloys “minilite” style. Straight but need refurb. with grotty tyres probably worth £100 on eBay.
