1968 Volvo P1800 S. the car has been off the road for the past 20 years. it carries the very rare and unusual registration number "4831R" a very old number being only one letter. probably first issued in the 1920's. the number alone is worth £2500.
Purchased from a deceased's estate
The previous owner took it off the road in 1993 intending to fully restore it. he stripped out the trim and most of the brightwork etc. the front seats have been re-trimmed the rear seats are in excellent original condition. the bodywork is very solid. no welding needed as far as I can see and also no previous welding either that I can see. this will need no panels replacing. its a nice straightforward restoration.
All the parts appear to be there although some trimwork and brightwork will need either re-chroming or replacing. the boot is full of parts.
These cars are increasing in value rapidly now especially early examples like this. spares supply is good and fully restored ones are for sale at up to £26k. very low reserve set on this car. it is here to sell.
One bad point I should mention is that it has at some time been fitted with a glass sunroof. in my opinion this would need either plating over (easy to do as its a very short and rigid roof skin) or replace with a webasto style sunroof.
