1952 Nash Airflyte Wagon Street Rod--Other--Hot Rod--Fabulous

Looking for something different? This is about as different as it gets. Absolute show -  stopper!  It's just amazing how many younger folks have never even heard of a Nash. This is a 1952 Nash Airflyte Wagon. This car was a National Goodguys winner. Goodguys magazine cover car. appeared in many national street rod magazines. and is  probably one of the very best in the country. This car was professionally built in Oklahoma/California. The body was originally purchased at the Pate Auto Swap meet in Fort Worth Texas. having been in storage for 30+ years prior.   A-1 Street Rod Shop in Broken Arrow Oklahoma built the car. including the tubular 2x3 chassis with a 100” wheelbase. A Lincoln 9” rear end (3. 23:1) was narrowed and coupled to a Chassis Engineering four link set up. complete with disc brakes. and Aldan coil over shocks. (The rear end has a slight bearing whine on deceleration. )  Mustang II front suspension was modified. and utilized in front. Weld Drag Star wheels and B. F. Goodrich tires complete the package. Power is supplied from a basically stock 350” Chevrolet. nbsp; “Mr. Goodwrench”  crate motor with Street/Performance pulleys. HPC block hugger headers. polished 100 amp alternator. an aluminum Edelbrock Performer manifold with a 750 Edelbrock carburetor. A custom built aluminum radiator. a Tom Waterman fabricated. and polished. aluminum fan shroud. and a Walker super cool fan keeps it cool. M. S. D. electronic ignition. along with Taylor plug wires. keeps the fires burning. Transmission is a 700R4 unit. with a Lokar shifter. The body is totally steel. shaved and smoothed by A1 Street Rods. The color is PPG/654 tint! Red as red can be! The interior is bone mist tweed. and it is a two-seater. It has power windows and A/C. along with a hidden remote Clarion C/D stacker. A custom built dash. Dakota digital gauges. nbsp; Ididit steering column. chopped Nissan Pulsar seats finish off the interior. The dash is very Art Deco looking. It has a fuel cell in the rear. This is a very cool car! It -DOES NOT- have air bags. It was built low. and rides pretty damn nice too. Here. in New England. most of the roads are fairly bumpy due to the heavy winter frost. I would have to think that in most other parts of this country. where the roads are better. it would ride even better. Being so low. you do have to watch where you're pulling into. or out of. so the front bumper doesn't scrape. If you angle your entrance/exit. you're all set. As you can see. this is not going cheap. but it is priced at about 30% of the build cost. so I'm told.
