Hudson introduced the Terraplane line in 1933 as a light weight vehicle with powerful engine to compete with Ford and Chevrolet.   By the time 1933 was over. Terraplanes had already captured 50 hill climb and speed records.  Due to its powerful 6 cylinder engine and light weight. the coupe was used extensively in several racing formats. oval. straight line. and hill climb.   The successes were such that the Terraplane line of cars helped sell the Hudson line.  Since 1934 was the height of the Great Depression. hundreds of Auto Manufacturers were declaring Bankruptcy.   Hudson knew that they had to produce a car with great appeal to get some market share.  Price and features were the main factors.
The HET Club (Hudson-Essex-Terraplane) for years has voted this particular car to be their favorite due to its performance. and styling. This car has a body-off frame restoration.   Every part of this great car has been rebuilt. new interior. paint. electrical. gauges. fuel lines. engine and transmission. radiator. and chrome.   There was no expense that was spared. and it shows.
I purchased this car due to my passion for 30's coupes with their Art-Deco swoopy styling that so characterized this great era.   In my opinion. this car is the best of the best!  This car has it all. race history. Deco styling. reputation. handling. and dependability.  Since most of the time you can't see bondo or rust until after the purchase. I got extremely lucky with this car.   There is no rust or bondo period.   This is an all steel car.   There is a "skim cote" for smooth or flat panels as is customary in all paint today.
This is a KU Coupe.   As such. It has a Rumble Seat. *The rear window drops so that driver can communicate with those in Rumble Seat. *The windshield "pops out" for ventilation. *Side windows. both wind wings and windows completely retract into the door. *Powerful engine that produces approximately 95 HP. *3 speed manual floor transmission. *Since hydraulic brakes did not come on the '34. this car has been upgraded to hydraulic.
I am selling this stunning car at a fraction of the cost of restoration. It can be inspected at the Murphy Auto Museum in Oxnard Ca.
I composed a short video with the car in action. so please click on the youtube link/arrow below.
Please Note:  The static that is heard when the engine is running is an unfortunate anomaly.  The car's electrical system for some reason had a negative static effect on the microphone on my digital camera.  As I move away from the engine it stops.  The engine performs flawlessly.
