1968 Triumph GT6 for sale
Current customer rating: (192 votes ) based onA race mechanic rebuilt the engine prior to me buying it. so I know that the engine is in good shape. The transmission shifts through all gears properly and into neutral without a problem. but I haven't confirmed if that was rebuilt. Slave cylinder is a bit sticky. so that may need to be replaced. I haven't run the lines to the clutch yet. so I don't know if that will be the case. Worst case scenario. you get a new slave cylinder for 40 bucks and you'll be good to go.
ALL Fuel line and brake lines are brand new copper setup from Spitbits or British Victoria…I don't remember which. I bought nearly all replacement parts from both those distributors. Please ask questions. and I will answer as best as I can. I got it started briefly with starter fluid when I worked on it last summer. So spark is good.
This sucks big eggs that I have to get rid of this. but like I said I don't have the dexterity with bum fingers. Buy this and you'll be the envy of the neighborhood. Frustrated I need to get rid of this.
Question #1 Where was the rust at? How long have you owned it? Original engine and tranny? Engine and commission numbers?
Completely recoated under belly and inside compartment. I recoated inside and there was no replaced sheet metal nor rust. Same week the frame. There was a repair to the lower left corner of the door which was professionally done. I completely stripped and built up all body before epoxy prime and paint. so I saw everything. I don't have the commission number of hand and will publish that tonight. Original engine and tranny. I have been working on it for 2 years. owned it for 3.
Question 2 Why the MK3 bonnet on the Mk1?
I dont know. The original MK1 was MIA and replaced when I receive the car. The frame is straight. I had it checked by a local triumph rebuilder. so it wasnt in an accident.
Question #3 How much to ship to the UK?
Honestly. I have zero clue on this. I am willing to load it onto a truck in my driveway and let them take it to wherever. Best I can do. I am not set up for that kind of shipping. If you are interested in checking further. I am more than happy to prepare for the move.
