1982 DeLorean DMC-12 for sale
Current customer rating: (252 votes ) based onThe original owner purchased Vin. 10162 new in the state of Georgia (where is was always garaged and not driven during the winter months). It was sold in 2015 to its current owner (me) who had 10162 refreshed with new mechanical and internal DMC-12 parts. from DMC's warehouse in Huston Texas and installed at there Southern California facility.
Along with this DeLorean there is an original and very hard to fine (only a few hundred were ever made and handed out) a Thank You for Purchasing Your New DCMC-12 plastic leather grained booklet. This piece of memorabilia is exceptionally rare as John Z. DeLorean signed the booklet for the then current owner of one of his sports cars. His signature has been authenticated and documented as being authentic. This document is valued in excess of $1. 00. 00 at auction.
This DMC-12 has 14. 00 Original documented miles and only 1. 00 miles after its complete engine restoration and upgrades (again all original parts for the DMC-12 were original new 1981 parts plus new 2015 upgraded electronic parts and wiring).
We have multiple pieces of documentation including the original window sales sheet with photos and invoices backing it all up. And. it's truly a privilege to lay your eyes on such intimate pieces of documentation that have survived for all these years. All documentation is included in the sale.
Mechanics / Body / Interior
This DMC-12 has been redone with an on-frame restoration. The current owner (me) installed 95% of original New/Old DeLorean parts and accessories. The non DeLorean accessories are the radio (original Radio is boxed in storage) and a 12 volt hard wired Flux Capacitor. And to add just a little more fun the DeLorean has installed LED accent blue lights for the interior. under body and engine compartment. All switches were used to activate these lights. and For parades we installed LED flashing lights front and rear to let the parade route know that we were coming.
The original PVR V6 Engine has been upgraded with a DMC Stage II engine (by Steven Wynne and his mechanic team at DMC West). This additional horse powered engine lets this DMC-12 take command of the roadways. This DMC-12 has all the fine detail extras that allow this car to say HELLO! As an example. all the original glued paper engine. battery and frame information stickers have been removed and replaced with stainless steel information plates.
If you have ever driven a DeLorean that came standard with manual steering you will appreciate this very rare Power Steering Option that DMC released in 2015 as an optional upgrade. So between the performance and the ease of handling this is a truly special car. Plus you get the thrill of running this baby through its five speed manual transmission as you hear the roar of its duel exhaust system.
The stage II duel exhaust upgrade really sounds perfect for this special rare sports car of the '80. We installed the original Front Independent Coil Suspension with corrected European height specifications. If you don't know. when the first DeLorean's arrived at the ship yards in Los Angeles in 1981 the cars were not allowed to be sold because they did not pass the USA's bumper accident test. Yherefore DeLorean had the front suspension raised to meet the required specifications. A DeLorean that has not put the suspension back to the European specifications is loosing a lot of front end handling as well as its sports car look.
Brushed Stainless Steel Finish was refrained in late 2015
Gull Wing Doors are in excellent working order plus we added automatic remote door openers and security alarm features. The body is in perfect condition as is the entire exterior.
Factory Gray Interior with original new leather seats. New headliners and carpets. Now. the center console. dash. knee pads and leather instrument cluster is all original 1981 as is the windshield. That is the key in knowing that this DMC-12 is a very well cared for. She's a day driver. show and or parade car. Have fun!
Side Notes:
Additionally our DMC-12 (Vin: 10162) has been autographed by production staff and actor's from the BTTF series. Some of the signatures (on front and inside of glove box) include:
Lea Thompson (Marty McFly's Mother)
Christopher Lloyd (the Doc)
Bob Gale (BTTF Author & Writer)
Claudia Wells (Marty McFly's Girl Friend)
Tamara Carera (Jacuzzi Girl #1)
Dean Cundey (Director of Photography)
Donald Fillilove (Goldie Wilson / Goldie Wilson III)
Michael Scheffe ( BTTF Construction designer of the BTTF car)
This DMC-12 is ready to hit the highways. enter car shows and parades. One thing for sure is that its a pleasure to see the smiles on peoples faces of all ages from 5 years to over 100 years old. Should you be asking why I'm selling this DMC-123 the answer is that I purchased the car at the age of 68 and filled my dreams of owning a DeLorean and now at my age its time to let it find a new caring owner.
