1963 MORRIS COOPER “PHENOMENAL. AWARD WINNING RESTORATION! ONE OF THE BEST!”
The Classic Car Gallery is proud to offer this stunning. award winning 1963 Morris Cooper. She is period correct and has been the beneficiary of an open-checkbook restoration in 2000. In 2001 she won the prestigious “Best Restored Cooper” at the OZ 40 Gala Event at historic Lakeside International Raceway in Queensland Australia. This vehicle is an original Morris Cooper built in the U. K. in Febuary 1963 and has a firewall ID plate containing the following:
TYPE YKA 2S1
CAR NO. 369209 1812
ENGINE NO. 9F/SA/L 18086
COLOUR: 1/PLATINUM/3
SHADOW BLUE (BODY-SHADOW BLUE. TURRET-PLATINUM)
RIGHT HAND DRIVE.
The following information along with with a matching engine number has been verified. This vehicle is a 997cc Low Compression Morris Cooper and was sent out from England to Australia as a CKD (completely knocked down) kit in February 1963. The 1812 chassis number was given to the car by BMC Australia in May 1963. An interesting point about this car is that under the datum plate. is another stamped number of 1802. possibly signifying an interruption or confusion in the marking practice on arrival in Australia. In 1999 John Heselwood and Bob Ward. both executive members of the Mini Owners Club Queensland undertook the restoration project over a two-year period. The engine was restored by Glen Carpenter of Glen Carpenter’s Mini Mart. The high standard of the restoration is evident. as the best resources were used throughout. The theme of originality was adhered to throughout. Her original Shadow Blue and Platinum color combinations are completed in Acrylic. her sub frames being powder coated to ensure longevity. original heater components and doughnut style air filters complementing the engine bay amongst other original items. The body is straight and the shut lines are excellent. New chrome. badging and wheel trims enhance the visual appeal of this classic car. Mechanically everything works as it should and her engine pulls strong with no hesitation. With extensive documentation including a 4 page inspection report by well known “mini-man” Mark Read. this Mini is sure to impress. If you have any additional questions please feel free to call (203) 256-9800 or email Steven@classiccargallery. com. Thank you for your interest.
