1956 Continental Mark IIGorgeous and rare. a 1956 Continental Mark II in red and ivory. with factory air conditioning. Conceived to be the world's finest automobile. and priced higher than Roll-Royce. the Continental Mark II was built to exacting standards of quality to exceed all competition.   With it's low slung distinctive styling. the Mark II attracted a number of notable buyers including Frank Sinatra. Elvis Presley. Nelson Rockefeller. the Shah of Iran. and the upper echelon of business and professional life.   Elizabeth Taylor and Doris Day are also associated with Mark II's.   The Ford family favored Mark II's for their personal transportation and some were kept for a number of years.   Priced at over $10. 00 with the optional air conditioning. double the price of most American luxury cars. very few Mark II's were sold.   Production was only about 3000 cars during the 1956 and 1957 production years.   Fewer cars remain today. and fewer yet with factory air conditioning.     In the 1980's. in Florida. this Continental. (C56H3205). underwent a thorough cosmetic restoration with all new paint and vinyl interior. plus new headliner and carpet throughout.   Little used since then. and still very presentable. the car attracts a great deal of attention with it's attractive color scheme.   Over time. the paint has started to crack. and eventually will need to be renewed.   Also the vent and quarter windows are not functioning and will need some attention as well as the radio and air conditioning.   The air conditioning blower still operates.   The engine runs strong but has a few sticky lifters.   Some play in the steering.   The glass is in excellent condition with no cracks.   Working glove box lock with key. Recent work includes rebuilt starter. generator. treadle vac and master cylinder.   The fuel pump has been rebuilt and the gas tank serviced and a new rubber fill tube and sending unit installed.   New brake wheel cylinders and hoses have been installed as well as new tie rod ends. rear shock absorbers and hood insulating blanket.   The radiator has been serviced and a new center driveshaft bearing and insulator have been fitted. New Firestone 8. 20 x 15 whitewalls with raised script. as originally equipped have just been installed. The Continental Mark II has been recognized as one of the most elegant and exclusive cars produced during the 1950's.   Here is an opportunity to acquire and present a glamorous automobile as did the original owners from the business/professional world and Hollywood.
