1969 Dodge Dart Superstock Recreation - Nostalgia Drag Racer - Immaculate for sale
Current customer rating: (520 votes ) based onBack in the muscle car horsepower race of late 60s America. the Superstock Dodge Dart was one of the most extreme machines to be produced by Detroit. A car that had no pretence of being a ‘grocery getter'. but built to do one thing one; annihilate the opposition on the quarter mile. It was a simple formula – Dodge's smallest body packing their biggest engine. stripped out trim. Fibreglass panels and no cosmetic fripperies or warranty. With only fifty or so of these fabled factory hot rods ever created. it's no surprise that these cars. if genuine. now fetch well over £200k.
Our '69 Dart is a beautifully built tribute to that crazy era of automotive excess. The attention to detail to ensure this car appears period perfect is fantastic. It uses a huge number of extremely rare parts and has had a huge investment in its build.
The '69 two-door hardtop (no B-post) shell was stripped to bare metal. Large rear wheels tubs. a fireproof bulkhead installed between the boot and passenger compartment (for fuel cell and battery relocation kit). frame connectors underneath and a weld-in roll cage fitted with removable door bars. The bumpers. boot lid. bonnet and wings have been replaced with Fibreglass replacements. The bonnet has a correct Superstock-style hood scoop. It was then finished in a period-correct white and blue colour scheme and rebuilt with new door and window rubbers.
Inside. this Dart is fully trimmed with a new carpet. rear seats and headliner. It features correct. rare and retrimmed Dodge A100 van front seats (lightweight). driver's harness. a Mallory dash-mounted tachometer and Grant GT steering wheel.
Under the bonnet is a 383 cubic inch Big Block. The block has been crack-tested. bored +40. fitted with forged pistons. new valves and bearings. It has a Hemi-grind camshaft. Edelbrock Performer inlet manifold and four-barrel carb. The exhaust system uses very rare CPPA (genuine Chrysler performance parts) headers with a new stainless exhaust system and genuine Chrysler exhaust tips.
The transmission is a new TCI automatic transmission with a reverse-pattern. full manual valve body with a B&M deep sump and a B&M ratchet shifter. It has a new propshaft (with protective prop loop) leading to a freshly built Dana 60 rear axle. narrowed by Hauser Racing and fitted with 4. 10 gears and Strange halfshafts.
The suspension has been fully rebuilt with largely all new parts and modified to accept 15” wheels and rare dual-piston disc brakes at the front and discs on the rear. New Superstock rear leaf springs. The wheels are correct chrome Cragars. the rears measuring 10x15”. New road legal tyres front and rear.
Despite looking like something transported in time from a late 60s drag strip. this Dodge is still perfectly usable for going to the shops. but it certainly gets a huge amount of attention.
A huge amount of research. work and money has been invested into this incredible car. At a fraction of its build cost it offers amazing value for money. along with tremendous fun!
