Many refer to the E30 M3 as the “real M3”.   This is what started it all.   These were race-bred hot rods that were homologated for the European and DTM touring championship and any one with a spare $40. 00 could buy one for the street.  

With a mere 4. 00 examples brought into the U. S. over a 4-year period. it is harder and harder to find good ones at affordable prices.   This is one of those cars.

The current owner is a mature adult who purchased the car to enjoy at some local driving events/schools.   He purchased the car about 5-years ago from his friend. VJ. who is now a professional driver with Grand-Am.    This was VJ’s first car that he learned to drive on the track.   He purchased the car as a stock streetcar that was very original and no accidents.   He then had Mino of Achilles Motorsports (ex-Renault F1 Engineer) set the car up to “J-stock” specifications.   This is a strict class that really only allows some minor suspension and safety modifications.   However. Mino managed to make it one of the best handling and fastest J-Stock cars on the West Coast.   After his first year of racing. the motor was tired and they proceeded to purchase a new block from Germany and build a completely new engine.   Bullet Performance in Southern California did the engine rebuild.   Shortly after finishing the engine. VJ sold the car to his brother who used it for local driving events and some street driving for about 18-months.   Finally. it ended up with the current owner.

The following modifications were made to this M3:

Single adjustable Koni shocks (Dinan suspension package)

Adjustable sway bars

Kosei lightweight wheels (2 sets)

Bolt-in roll cage (can be removed completely for a more stock look)

Cobra Suzuka driver seat and Sparco passenger seat

Cam-lock 5-point belts

Front and rear strut tower braces

Remote oil cooler with large oil pan and baffle.

Cold-air box.

Brake cooling brackets with hoses

Free flowing cat-back muffler

Steel braided brake lines

DTM front spoiler

Fire Extinguisher

IO Port camera mount

The current owner took great car of this M3.   Every two events. he had the oil serviced (at Achilles Motorsports) and the car inspected.   Recently. he spent several thousand dollars on the following services: New aluminum M3 control arms. new driveshaft and guibo. new front hubs.   The car drives great.   It is very tight and responsive.  

Over the last few years I have watched the price on nice E30 M3s begin to climb.   They are not going down in price…that’s for sure.   So. if you have ever wanted one to simply enjoy and drive. this might be the right M3 for you.

The car comes with an extra set of Kosei wheels. extra set of lightly used front and rear rotors. extra set of brake pads. extra key. and a CD of the full repair manual.

The car is currently registered. passes CA smog. and is licensed to drive on the street.
