According to the research a harder car to find originally as a yellow 289 car. VIN # 5T23C529186                                                    DSOTrim Tag - 63D  8   66A   05C     23      6    6

This car has rust in some of the common places but not rotted like most mercury's of this yr. This really is a good car with good straight lines. The engine currently in the car is 302 built in Cleveland. 1968 block. . still has the factory transmission and rear end. . New tires. aluminum radiator. X pipe. magnaflow mufflers. hoses. brake lines & brakes have been replaced. distributor . gaskets. barrings. headers. etc. etc. .  Currently the 3rd gear slips a little. you have to let off the gas for a tenth of a second. 1-2 shift is good. I have videos attached. Car runs very well and starts with no issues. due to the long tube headers. left turns are not tight. The lights work. most of the gauges work. interior is in great shape. some have been redone in the past it appears. the car has a good amount of options.

The floors . trunks. braces. cowl etc are all in great shape. the rust you can see. i didn't paint anything so you see what your getting.
This transmission is designed to operate in D1. or manually shift it. if you start in D1 it will start in 1st. if D2 start in 2nd gear etc. .
Car drive straight doesn't pull. and the drum brakes work great. you can get in the car and drive it on the road with no issues. this is a go now car.  Until you choose to restore the car. The hood scoops were added by previous owner as most of the work was done.
Hagerty rates the cars with factory order 289's at $7. 00   but you have to find them first. there not just laying around anymore. cool car.
