1934 Cadillac 355D V8 Town Sedan

It's ironic today that during the depths of the Great Depression. Cadillac was producing some of the most beautiful automobiles in history. For 1934. styling changed completely. with a new. sweeping Art Deco design with the first efforts toward streamlining. The results were stunning.

This 1934 Cadillac 355D Town Sedan was ordered from the William O. McKay Cadillac dealership in Seattle. Washington in November. 1933. Produced in December. with Body Number 10. it was one of the first of the 1934 models built. The car was originally owned by a doctor in Tacoma. Washington and by the 1950's had been acquired by a gentleman living on nearby Orcas Island. receiving limited use. After ownership by two subsequent collectors. it was acquired by the present owner in 1994.

The original 355 cubic inch V8 engine has been completely rebuilt (all receipts are available) with modern insert-style rod bearings. It runs smooth as silk and now has just 200 miles on the rebuilt engine. Please see video of the engine running.

The car was repainted from its original Cathedral Grey paint scheme to a color very similar to the 1934 "Lamar Tan" with a slight irridescence. It is a lovely color. accentuating the lines of the car and is very subtle when viewed in-person. The wire wheels are the original Vincennes Red color. The car was also ordered with. and includes the original (and now very rare) full wheel disc covers. They are in excellent condition and were color-matched to the body. New correct rubber running board mats were installed. The chrome and trim is largely original and in overall excellent condition - including the unique 1934 "bi-plane" bumpers - testament to the quality of ownership over the years.

The interior was completely reupholstered with correct style fabric and stitching. Subtle and dignified to match the rest of the car. Please see photos.

All gauges register accurately. Clock is not working and the rare original Cadillac radio hums. Working accessory Harrison heater. Turn signals and accessory driving lights added. Windshield wipers and brake system rebuilt. Modern. full-flow radiator fitted. A real pleasure to drive.
