1969 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 Automatic Series 1

The car offered for sale here is potentially one of the last of its kind. Registered in October 1969 it is one of the very first Mark 1 XJ 6 4. 2 cars – I believe that it was the 9th car that was produced on the production line. and is therefore one of the more desirable Series 1 models. and boasts an incredibly low mileage of just 76. 00 miles in the hands of one careful owner (and his son)! The car belonged to my Father who traded in his Mark 2 in 1969 for this car. which at the time. was seen as a revelation in motoring terms. I've been lucky enough to own some modern classic cars and can honestly say that none compare to the Jag's ride and comfort.

A letter from the Jaguar Drivers Club in 1990 confirms the rarity if original condition and low mileage Series 1 cars. This letter states ‘our records show 150 [of these models in existence] in 1987. however I do not know as to what condition they are in'.

This truly is an exceptional car. and in the same Creamy White (Old English White) colour with Burgundy leather interior and automatic gearbox exactly as it left the factory. there is no aspect of this car which has not been painstakingly improved or replaced with the exact original type throughout the whole vehicle. The car needs some attention to the body work. but these are superficial issues that can easily be sorted out. and the reason I am selling it now is that I do not have the time to upkeep it. the means to store it or the capital to invest in what it should and can be.

In short. this car is has been maintained throughout its life. I have just spent £8. 00 on a complete mechanical overhaul with Swallows the Jag specialaists; it went through a painstaking engine rebuild that saw its converstion to unleaded petrol a few years ago and I am confident that this car's performance is unique – it drives brilliantly. I doubt the likes of this car will be seen again. and urge any parties who are interested to make the journey to come and see this car as you won't be disappointed. I'm realistic enough to know that a Jaguar XJ6 is not perhaps the first choice on most of our ‘lottery win' lists. this is a ‘best of breed' example of a fine motorcar and deserving of a place in any serious collection. I also know that save for 2 other cars that I am aware of. this is the only original. un-molested and single family owned vehicle in existence.

Included amongst the history of this car is the original sale invoice from supplying dealer A J Beale and Son of Exeter showing its purchase price. my father had a few Jags from them over the years. but just could bring himself to move this car on – so it stayed in the family and has been maintained. driven and loved by a few generations!

Also present is MoT test certificate. as you would expect. also the original log book in the name of the cars one owner. numerous handbooks. service voucher books. and mechanical drawings of the cars specification. I am convinced that with its provenance and some tlc. the is car will be one of a handful that will become a much sought after trophy for the serious car collector.

I will only accept a bankers draft or cash for the vehicle. and the reserve is in place because the vehicle has a real market value that I have been given by an auction house.
