Rare Standard Eight Tourer 1946Very few cars could be bought privately in early 1946 due to the "Export or die" legislation at the time following the second world war. It is believed that this tourer . egistered on the 6th March that year . ust ten months after the war's end was. conscripted to the RAF in Aldershot . The first civilian entry on the original log book does not appear until 1963 and states that the car was in grey livery. Very well restored with no rust or corrosion and its original interior this car has had thousands spent on it in recent years including a proffesional engine rebild and rechroming. A brand new hood and tonneu cover is fitted and the side screens are the original with no breaks in the plastic windows. Everything works except the petrol gauge (we just keep it full). I have installed new trafficator unitsbut the wires are run for flashers to all four corners and work on the switch on the column. these were on brackets on the bumper. A new battery and wiring loom and electric petrol pump are fitted. She starts very well and drives well although she has some play in the steering . the last advisory on the mot was for Kingpins. I am used to it and drive her accordingly. We have a lot of fun during the nice weather going to car shows and trips along the coast with the hood down and drove her to a car show in London on one of the hottest days of the heatwave. a round trip of 100 miles not even having to top up the radiator!!. it was too hot to have the hood down but with the screen open it was a joy. Another job to be done is the drivers seat frame has bent over the years and so it sits low. i have fitted a block of wood under the back of it but it really needs to be removed and put in a vice and straightened. Open to possible exchange within ebay rules. This is a stylish rare 1940's car that  is very usable and versatile. The standard of restoration is excellent and has no body or chassis issues and will last for years in this condition if used and cared for. Please call 01903 503023

Is this car still for sale if so where?

from John Meehan, dated 17 september 2018
Hi, I have one of these cars. It was sent to France for body modifications, then sent to Spain, where it was raced. From there it made its way to California, in the USA. It ended up in Washignton state where I purchased it a few years ago. Info on parts is needed.
