Rare and beautiful Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette Convertible RPO B2K.

Bright Red exterior.  black top. black leather interior. 6-speed ZF transmission that has proven capable of handling the 562 lbs. /ft. torque of the Callaway TT at 2400 rpm.

As the original owner I ordered from  my Chevrolet dealer using GM option code RPO B2K which results in the new car being  fitted at the Bowling Green Corvette factory with the "special equipment option" SEO Z5G.   That includes heavy-duty cooling system. power steering fluid cooler. a longer front air dam and large front brakes that I have added ceramic pads for.   I also had a new professionally built. custom radiator installed that has to be seen.   Air conditioner keeps you cool in hot stop and go traffic.    Heater and defrost work perfectly.   Car will not overheat.   Electronic climate control unit is an excellent option on this car.  Push a button and you can see the outside temp.

Let's talk about the sounds.   The Callaway TT is quiet.   You can hear the whoosh of the twin turbos!  Especially on a nice spring day with the top down. which is easy and quickly folded back and away.   Look in the rearview mirror and the cars that were around you are starting to disappear.   It's amazing.   When traveling out on the Interstate. the car feels weightless until you touch the brakes and the cruise control shuts off and you just want to go more!  Nice comfortable quiet ride.   Convertible top is sealed. windows sealed. doors sealed. all new gaskets.

But if you want noise. Kicker!  Diamond Audio!  Put in your favorite big roar music.   Or relax to Crosby Stills and Nash.

From the Bowling Green Corvette plant.  the new car was shipped directly to Callaway Engineering in Old Lyme Connecticut where the engine was removed and forged Cosworth Pistons were installed and the engine was given a 4-bolt main splay. Clevite bearings. plasma moly race rings. and a gas-nitrided crank unit.   The connecting rods used in the Twin Turbo engine come from the same forging as LT-1 “pink” rods.   Each rod was visually checked and Magnafluxed.   The pin bores and bearing journals were checked for size and roundness. and honed if necessary.   The rods were then weighed and matched.    See the Callaway window sticker in my pics.   Also I have included a photo of the parts that go into the vehicle. which you can see in my pics.

I have added a new organic clutch recently and changed the fly-wheel to a modern updated version with greater clamping force capable of handling the torque better. Results are impressive.   Shifting gears is clean with no slippage period.

The distributor gear is hardened and air inlet is re-routed through the Callaway "Wonderbar".   Handmade Intercoolers adorn the top of the engine and reduce the inlet air temperature by 150 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fuel injectors have been replaced with new ethanol compatible Bosch Stage II injectors.   Car takes 92 octane unleaded gas at any gas station or 91 octane if necessary.

Throttle body was replaced with new TPIS unit that can be seen in my pics.   Reset minimum blade position and minimum TPS. then relearned idle air system.   Replaced new Callaway fuel pump and fuel filter.

All ABS wheel sensors in good working order. no warning lights.   No check engine soon light since replacing throttle body.   Air hoses and oil lines to turbos have been replaced.   No leaks!  Mobile One 15W-50 is all that ever goes into this engine.   Like it says to do on the driver's side Intercooler.

Just installed a new steering wheel that is an art work. and have another because if I find something I like I always buy two.   Fresh leather.   Also the leather shifter knob is brand new.

New headlight motors.   I got the last two available.

Brand new Goodyear Formula One Tires!  These are nice.   See the pics.   They are nine and a half inches wide and 17 inches in diameter.   That makes the front tires as wide as anything you will encounter.   Past. present or future.   And with the clamshell open they make good tables or chairs.

This is Car #12 for model year 1989.   Callaway Twin Turbos were only available for 5 years.   1989 was the best year since it was the year of platform upgrades for the new ZR-1 which came out a year late.   Upgrades included the ZF-6 Speed manual transmission.   Gear ratios fit the Callaway better than the ZR-1! The Callaway has more torque so the shift at full throttle from 5th to 6th gear is impressive. all of the way up to the top speed!  Plus. the fewest cars were made in 1989!!!  Car #5 was on the cover of Car and Driver in May 1989 and I got the magazine in my mailbox right after coming home from negotiating my price for car #12.   My car was exactly as I ordered it.   Perfect!  And I already had a new 1987 convertible so I already knew what to order.

I want to share this iconic fire breathing dragon.   Can you ride it?  I start the bidding at a low price.   I want to know who is out there.
