The Rolls-Royce 25/30 built between 1936 and 1938 is an updated
version of the 20/25
with larger engine to provide more power for the over-large bodies
had been fitted to the earlier model leading to complaints about
its performance. The in-line six cylinder. overhead valve. engine
is similar to that used in the 20/25 but increased in capacity to
4. 57cc. A single proprietary Stromberg downdraught carburettor
replaced the Rolls-Royce one and magneto ignition was no longer
fitted but a spare ignition coil was provided. The riveted chassis
has rigid front and rear axles suspended by half elliptic springs
with hydraulic dampers. Braking is on all four wheels assisted by a
mechanical servo with separate rear brakes are fitted for the
handbrake. The traditional Rolls-Royce radiator with vertical
louvers. the angle of which is controlled thermostatically to
control engine cooling. Only the chassis and mechanical parts were
made by Rolls-Royce. The body was then made and fitted by a
coachbuilder selected by the owner.

On offer is this pretty Rolls-Royce 25/30 six-light
limousine by the renowned coachbuilders Thrupp & Maberly.
It has been properly looked after and maintained throughout its
life covering less than 1. 00 miles a year for the last forty
years. The vendor purchased this car about eight years ago shortly
after the engine had been rebuilt and the con rods replaced with
the stronger. later Bentley Mk. VI type which used shell bearings
in place of the white metal type. He then overhauled the gearbox
and rear axle making the car run and drive excellently. Painted in
mid-blue with black wings. the interior is finished in black
leather to the front compartment with fawn 'West of England' cloth
to the rear and comes supplied with a V5C registration document. a
new MoT test certificate. a green 'buff' log book. a file of
invoices and information regarding the overhauls and old MoT test
certificates going back to 1973 confirming the car usage over the
last forty years. A very useable example of one of these rare. br/>pre-war Rolls-Royce motorcars.
