Mercury Cougar XR7 1967. ALL ORIGINAL AND UNMODIFIED

Up for sale is my unmodified 1967 Cougar XR7 (bar the 1980's radio). Still in its original Polar White paint option but was re-painted in the 80's. The paint does show patina here and there but the car looks mint from 5' away. The Aqua colour interior is  how she left the factory in 1967 but is new and in excellent condition. that includes the headliner too. mint!! Only 27221 XR7's was built in 1967 and finding one that has escaped the modifying gods is quite rare these days. Since I took ownership I have replaced the following bits and bobs in 2013:

-New. All the weather strips and window seals
-New Start motor & start solenoid
-New Front anti roll bar bushings. end links and Scott Drake shock absorbers
-New Leaf springs rear incl. bushings. u-bolts & Scott Drake shocks
-New heavy gauge battery & earth cables
-New Cooper white stripe tyres
-New PS lines
-New Trans oil filter and Sump gasket
-New head lights. to bring it up to more modern standards.
-New but not fitted. bespoke electric head light openers. The stock system works perfectly but bought this kit on a whim. Decided NOT to fit it as I like to keep the car as close to stock as possible. But its included in the sale non the less.

The engine/trans combo is the 289cui 2v V8 mated to a C4 transmission. The car drives and handles like new with all the new suspension parts fitted. Original AC car but the pump is disconnected. Gear shifts are flawless up & down. Very solid car which has been wax oil treated in all the nooks and crannies and the car is under sealed. Stops on a dime and starts first time every time. This is a very quiet cruiser with stock exhaust system still in place. If you're looking for loud this isn't for you. 99. 99% rust free. I've had the car on my 2 poster ramp for 2 weeks. plodding along sorting out all the snags so you don't have to. It now looks most excellent under. over & inside. All you got to do now is stab it and go. With tunes pumping out from the 1980's Jensen AM-FM cassette player. (good sound mind you)
TBH the bumpers could benefit from a re-chrome if you're fussy. but I decided to maintain the 45 year old look. and they are shiny when polished. Its up to you Ladies and Gents.

Remember this is all original. not some half assed project Frankenstein.

Mileage is 87xxx and climbing in the nice weather we got atm.
