1983 Mercedes-Benz 280sl.
Offered here. is a superb example of the R107 Mercedes-Benz 280sl. Finished in a metallic blue the car is in excellent condition throughout. The coachwork is superb especially when you consider that this car is now over 30 years old. All the panels are extremely straight and free from rust/bubbling and the paint finish is of a very good standard. The majority of the paint appears to be factory finish but doubtless the car will have had paint within its lifetime. The under body and chassis appear to be very good and there does not look to be any issues at all in terms of structural integrity.
The interior too is excellent with virtually no wear showing at all to the carpets/seats etc. A testament to the outstanding build quality of these cars. The wood cappings are excellent and everything works as is should including electric windows. remote mirrors. stereo (modern upgrade). heater blowers etc etc.
The car sits on original. unmarked Mercedes-Benz alloys with matching Michelin ‘pilot' tyres. The original factory hard top is with the car and is in very good condition. There is a brand new blue soft top included with the car. All the chrome and brightwork are also excellent.
It is overall a very very presentable and attractive example and always attracts favourable comments.
The engine starts first time and the car runs without issue. The gear box works well and on the road the car feels surefooted and strong. just as you would expect of one of these superb sports cars.
The original service book and owners manual remain and there are no fewer than 24 maintenance stamps in the book. There are also numerous old MOT certificates. The current MOT runs until Sept (no miles have been covered since test) and a fresh MOT will be arranged before sale. The V5 registration document shows 6 previous owners.
