The W116 was the first of the real 'S Class' models. It was a big change from the traditional stacked headlight W108/9 models that came before it. The lines of these early cars are so crisp and fresh without any of the plastic cladding and 2 tone paint of later S Class models. The subtle details are beautiful and the engineering and build quality that went into these cars is clear to see.

This particular car is an outstanding example. first registered 20/09/1973 and ordered in stunning Icon Gold Metallic with Honey Beige Velour upholstery this car was and still is an eye catcher. We have the original order form for the car which shows it was specified with tinted glass all round. limited slip axle. velour upholstery and a front armrest. This took the price to £8417. 27.

The condition of the car is as you see it in the photos. un restored and original. The only addition is a recent Air Conditioning installation which uses the original controls. These old S Classes were designed to cover massive distances and most are over the 200. 00 mile mark by now which makes this 23. 00 mile example a rare find indeed. Out on the road the car feels every bit as solid and planted as any modern Mercedes and the tall tyres soak up every bump and pot hole it encounters.
