I am offering up for sale my 1957 Mercedes 220S cabriolet. According to the build sheet the vehicle was delivered to the Los Angeles Studebaker Dealership and as far as I could tell from her unrestored good condition. spent most of her life in California. I purchased her from a gentleman in Ohio who had owned her for only a few short years. This vehicle went under a complete nut and bolt restoration at great expense. This work included a complete overhaul of ALL mechanicals including the engine and transmission. Interior restoration included all leather. carpets. three layer top. all wood work. instruments. radio and the list goes on and on. Well a picture is worth a thousand words so I won't say much more. Please note the ultra rare removable headrests. This was a three year restoration that involved much preparation and research to understand what is the originality of the car. Many cars are offered on Ebay and elsewhere are significantly flawed in their originality and quality of restoration. For those who wish to attempt a restoration on a cheaper and significantly poorer condition car. I wish you very good luck in a very complex project that will suck the $$$ out of your pocket. I know of a 220S that was restored in NC at an incredible cost of over 300K dollars. It may have even been better than mine. This car is an absolute dream to drive powered by a drivetrain that has well proven itself on 100 of thousands Mercedes. For those of you that watch the Mercedes vintage market you will know that in the past 6 months cars such as the 220S Cab and 190SL have increased in value by over 25% finally starting to gain the real value they deserve due to rareness.
