SELLER REMARKS

You want A-list collectability? A future upside that allows you to both drive the car AND have it appreciate while you do it? How about big power in one of the most stylish packages of the decade? To top it all off. make it rare. like one of about 30 to remain. Yeah. that describes this incredible 1955 Desoto Fireflite convertible perfectly.

In the flamboyant '50s. excess was the norm. but Virgil Exner designed cars that stood out for being restrained and tasteful. Today. the "Styled for Tomorrow" Fireflite is the pinnacle of good taste and refinement in the 1950s. and even with the brilliant Carnival Red over Surf White paint scheme. it is still sophisticated. No expense was spared on the restoration of this important car. so fit and finish are typically well beyond anything Chrysler could achieve in the 1950s. with every detailed rendered in as-new condition. The toothy grille has been a favorite of customizers for decades. but never has it looked so good as in its original role on the Desoto. All the chrome was given show-quality refinishing so it glitters on the urethane paint surfaces. and all the stainless was polished.

The interior features interesting red and white leather seat covers that show minor wear but nail the original look. With black carpets and dash to anchor it. the interior proves that you don't need a two-seater to be sporty. The twin cockpit theme works extremely well in the Fireflite. with the driver treated to a complete set of recessed instruments that recall those of an aircraft (purely intentional) and a unique shifter that sticks out of the dash called "Flite Control. " Even more impressive is that everything works. including the clock and Wonder-bar AM radio. whose speaker lives on the passenger's side of the dash. The massive trunk shows how nice this car really is. with an original mat. full-sized spare. and beautifully fitted side panels. A white power convertible top with a plastic rear window is perhaps starting to show some age. but given how good this car looks with the top down. you'll only use it in emergencies anyway.

For Chrysler fans. there aren't many words more magical than "Hemi. and the 291 cubic inch Hemi V8 under the hood of the Desoto is the stuff that legends are made of. Living in a highly detailed engine bay. it looks like nothing else on the road in 1955. with those big valve covers with centrally-mounted spark plugs for maximum performance. Topped by a 4-barrel carburetor. it makes 255 horsepower and blasts to a top speed of more than 110 MPH. The undercarriage is tidy and clean. albeit showing a few signs of use. but there's obviously no structural rust or issues waiting to surprise a new owner. and everything has been returned to stock condition. including the great-sounding single exhaust that has a subdued hum suggesting great power held in reserve. Flashy chrome wire wheel covers are wrapped in appropriate bias-ply wide whitewall tires.

With over $100. 00 invested in the restoration. it should be no surprise that this car is exceptional. But for enthusiasts. it takes more than being pretty to make a car special. This one brings it all: ground-breaking styling. impressive performance. and an impressive pedigree. Call today!
