At THL we love seeing true automotive history saved. restored and brought back to life.   Offered for sale is a prime example of such a car in need of rescue; a 1931 TJ 12/50 Alvis. which was in fact. a car that was chosen for display at the 1931 London Motor Show.

Fitted with a 2 seater Cross & Ellis DHC coachwork. Chassis # 9135. Car # 14036 and was registered as PJ1489.  During her life she has spend time with Paul Marinari  (cellist in the BBC Symphony Orchestra) Paul was also the 116th member of the Alvis car club! One other notable owner was Bobby Kok - founder member of the Philharmonic Orchestra. Principal Cellist of the BBC Symphony Orchestra. who played with The Beatles. and was a writer and car enthusiast. Sadly despite been owned by some very interesting people. by 1979 she was unfortunately found body-less and in a derelict state. The new owner made the purchase fully intending to rebuild her very swiftly for use in VSCC events. ideally by the end of 1980 at the latest! Unfortunately. rather like many project started with good intent. an element of slippage crept into this schedule.

In an initial burst of enthusiasm. 5 wheels were re-spoked. a new petrol tank made. a new radiator core made and finally the chassis shot blasted and red oxide coated. and all these bits are still with the car. Many of the important parts are included with this kit. but notable items are missing; namely the body. but also the diff carrier and the gearbox (however the current owner can put you in touch with the right people who have spares of the latter items).

The project has passed through a few hands in more recent years each also started with enthusiasm and plans to get her back on the road by following year. each time a further element of delay occurred. Normally family or business commitment's. the current owner personally just has too many commitments on the go. including a growing business. young family and other car projects. After much consideration he has come to the following conclusion; rather than being selfish and hold on to her. hoping for circumstances to change. he has realistically little or no chance of starting or even completing her in the next 10 years! So the hard decision has been made; he would sooner sell the project. ideally to someone who can and will get her on the road sooner. ideally with no further slippage! He is very keen that it passes onto a true enthusiast. and would like to stay in contact with the new owner. hoping to see her finish before her 90th birthday!

The V5C has been lost. however there is enough of a paper trail. and she is a known kit that obtaining the original number would be possible. I'm more that happy to assist you with this. Shipping can be arranged. other wise bring a Long wheelbase van!
