2003 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class CL600

The interior color is gray. which is a great color in the summer because it doesn't build up heat or dry out the ventilated leather seating. The car also has walnut burl trim and a walnut and leather steering wheel. The exterior paint color is “diamond black. which is a fancy way of saying that the factory mixed some diamond dust into the paint before they sprayed it on the car. The shiny effect is pretty amazing after it's been waxed. Regrettably. that wonderful appearance only lasts for a few days because the effect of waxing is to generate negative ions on the surface. which attracts every manner of dust and pollen floating through the air. If you have a chamois. buffing cloth. or one of those dry-use brushes. you can get away with dry wiping it down a few times before you need to wax it again. Otherwise. you can buy a “monthly” car wash pass including wax at the local car wash. which allows you unlimited washes with wax during a 30-day period. Once again. I didn't do this. but if you want to do it. please be my guest.

A couple of things you might not know just to look at these pictures: The car is smoke-free. The tires are brand new steel-belted radials all around. The spare tire is one of the original Pirelli's that came with the car. So. it's a great brand but an original tire that hasn't been used very much. The official AMG wheels are chrome-plated so it's impossible to grind off surface damage from curb rash unless you want to re-chrome the wheels thereafter. which I did not. If the curb rash bothers you. be my guest and re-chrome them. or buy new AMG wheels for about $8. 00. 00. which is what these cost new in 2003. Even with the curb rash and even after 14 years. waxing the wheels at the car wash really makes them shine.

Moving onto the engine. my CL600 has the biturbo feature. which was installed standard at the factory and is NOT an aftermarket version. What you also cannot see is that I have done well over $14. 00. 00 in documented repairs and replacement of key parts that normally “crap out” starting around 80. 00 miles. For your information. it's not the way the car is driven that causes these parts to stop working correctly. It's the amount of time that passes – in this case. 14 years. Yes. of course. some of the parts do wear out faster if you drive over 90 mph all the time. but I didn't do this (I've only driven it 107 mph one time). and. as you may already know if you are seriously interested in this marque and model. once the parts are replaced with new factory-authorized ones. it's like that part of the car is brand new again. and it doesn't break again. You can look at the CARFAX to see what's been done. I also have a one-quarter inch binder with a detailed description of all of the authorized Mercedes Benz service work that's been done over the past 14 months. If you come by my office to see the car. you can read through the binder. too.

There are only a relatively few CL600's still on the road (and even fewer for sale). but I can almost promise you that the repair and replacement of key parts that I've replaced on this car has not occurred yet in most of those other "bargain" cars. This means that. if you buy one of these other CL600's. then YOU will have to make (or pay for) the repairs when they do finally “crap out” in the course of normal driving. We have a saying in the Mercedes Benz community: There's nothing more expensive than a “cheap” CL600. Buy one of those ‘low-priced' CL600's you find from time to time. and you'll quickly discover what I'm talking about.

I believe that the high bidder will find my car to be a great value compared to whatever else you can buy for the amount you'll be bidding for this car. I still get compliments on the body style and bright paint. For the price of a used Toyota. you can own the coupe version of the “flagship” of the Mercedes Benz luxury auto line.
