Messerschmitt KR200 - Micro Car - 1959. for sale

Here is a rare opportunity to acquire a Messerchmitt KR200 Dome -Top three-wheeler. from 1959.

This car was last on the road in 1980. when it's gearbox failed at the Isle Of Man T. T. Races (no. the car wasn't competing in it!). Whilst the engine was out to sort out the gears. I got carried away. and what started out as a light renovation turned into an obsession. and the car spent the next 32 years in boxes.

In that time a small fortune was been spent on it's renovation. replacing any worn. defective or missing parts.

The car has not been modified. other than in a cosmetic way.

This entailed the chrome-plating of many parts that weren't originally chromed; the use of powder coating on items that were originally painted. and polishing items. such as the engine cases. to a mirror finish.

Even the air in the tyres is chromed.

The car was sprayed in a 2-pack white finish. the same shade as it was when it was taken off the road.

The interior was professionally re-upholstered in a white and imitation Ocelot fabric  . nice!

The engine was rebuilt using new bearings. seals etc. . by a well known club member. now living in France.

It has a brand new blue tinted dome. new tyres and tubes all round. a new battery. new rubber floor-mat and other new parts. far too numerous to list here. I have kept many of the receipts and invoices for the parts purchased and the work done over the years.

After 28 years of kidding myself that I would one day put it all back together. I finally approached Wyndford Jones. the M. O. C. G. B Parts Manager who kindly (and probably foolishly!) agreed to reassemble the car for me.

His knowledge and experience with Messerschmitts is well known. and so the car is correctly reassembled and other than the cosmetic flourishes mentioned. it's as it would have left the factory.

I have a receipt for nearly £900 worth of new parts supplied by Wyndford as he reassembled the car.

Having only done a few miles since being put back on the road. it is in extremely good condition. However. my interests now lie elsewhere. so I'm offering it for sale.

The only faults it has are these:- The paint work has the odd small nick here and there - small chips and scratches only. but hard to see unless you get right up close. The nearside wing has some small amount of bubbling spots which appeared after the car had been resprayed. Again. these are barely noticeable. Also if you look down the length of the car from the rear you can notice a small area of rippling to the nearside flank of the body tub.

The car had an M. O. T. but this has run out. As it is now M. O. T exempt and has only done 14 miles. I haven't bothered to waste time and money on putting it through again.

The car will need a bedding in period to sort out any small adjustments needed. It starts first time - the gears and reverse mechanism all work - and it charges O. K.

The original 'buff' log book comes with the car. along with various workshop manuals and parts lists.

Rather than go on describing the car in minute detail. I would prefer any serious bidders to contact me to discuss any questions you may have (please. not after 9 p. m).

My numbers are:- 0117095101385 / 07759211438.

Wyndford is more than happy to discuss the car and verify the condition of it. and the work that he did putting it back together. Please don't call him direct. but contact myself first. and I will get him to call you.

Obviously it would be wise to view the car before bidding. so again. please call me to arrange this.

Please note:- I am not averse to any (serious) bids from outside the U. K. but I will not get involved with any shipping arrangements - collection and transportation will be the buyer's responsibility.

Finally. I will want a £250 deposit paid by PayPal within 48 hours of the close of auction. and the balance either cash on collection. or a Banker's Draft. allowing time for the funds to clear.

P. S - Please don't ask me for a 'Buy It Now' price - there isn't one (it's an auction). nd please don't ask me what the reserve price is.

Thank you . and happy bidding!

Overseas bidders. Pay-Pal only. thank you.

All winning bids to be paid for within 7 working days.
