1936 Austin Seven opal tourer. needs light restoration. the car has a very interesting history. during the war the car was hidden from the occupying German forces in a haystack in Guernsey.
In the 1970's it was spotted by Sir David Steel whilst on holiday. he made enquiries and purchased the car importing it into Scotland. he kept the car until 1991 only selling it then to help fund the restoration of his 16th century Peel tower in the Ettrick valley.
The car runs and drives. it needs work to the rear side panels. running boards. the chassis appears sound although the outriggers going to the running boards will need repairs or replacement. not a difficult job and would make a great d. i. y restoration project. well worth doing as these little Austin 7 Opal are becoming very popular and are increasing in value every year. this one with its interesting history would be very worthwhile.
