AUSTIN HEALEY FROG EYE SPRITE  1959

This  car was one owner from new until 2012 when the owner sadly died and Rick of Torquay Motors was given the job of collecting it to deliver to the owner's son.   Unfortunately he had no interest in the car and so Rick purchased it from him realising what a fantastic find it was having been kept garaged.   He had a dream of recommissioning the car for himself but when he got it back on the road he realised that he found it physically very difficult to get in and out of the car and so sadly has now decided to sell it on.  

Rick of Torquay Motors. the current owner.  does not have internet access and so I agreed to help him out.   He brought the car over to me on his transporter and as my time was short we took the pictures with the car still on the lorry.

It has with it much of it's original documentation including the original sales warranty given by Austin and the Austin Healey Sprite sales literature and tuning booklet issued by British Leyland. all of  which I have pictured.   The original owner has also written out some history of the car and how he acquired it plus the son of the original owner has added some written history.

During the cars lifetime it has been off the road between 1979-1989 plus also October 2002 until February 2013.  It has also covered 9. 00 miles in Europe.

In order to get the car back on the road the following work was carried out by an MG specialist in the South Devon area;

 An overhaul of the back brakes. wheel cylinders & shoes.  

Front brakes were cleaned and sorted plus new pads.

New oil. filter and plugs.

As it is a one owner car until very recently. it is featured in a book '50 Years Of  The Frog Eye' by John Baggott which will be coming out later this year.

This is a truly authentic Sprite never having been welded which is a very rare find.   As you can see from the pictures it is not a shiny show car but it's originality is worth far more.
