I have a 1985 5. 0 McLaren forsale. First let me start off by saying that this car has a salvage title due to being a theft recovery when it had 8000 miles. Also I bought the car from a little old lady and she misplaced the title years ago but I have all the paper work from the dmv needed to get the title signed from her. I have the following: Application for duplicate title along with the transfer of duplicate/paperless title. DMV transfer and Reassignment Form. and a Bill of sale. I can send any serious buyer pictures of this and be more than happy to go over it with you. Everything is signed off waiting on the new buyer to take ownership. Please don't let this scare you away. These forms are strait from the California DMV and is everything you need to get a hard title for it.
It is not pretty by any stretch of the means. I cant tell you much about it other than what you see in pictures. It is 1 of 257 McLaren convertibles built in 1985. And 1 of 100 Red ones built in 1985. So it is a pretty rare car non the less. The car does run pretty good. I drove it home 90 miles. The trans seems to shift pretty well. The car has a slight vibration around 35-45mph. Not sure where it is coming from. There is a slight coolant leak coming from the hose off of the water pump from being old and brittle. Easy fix. Also the heater core has been bypassed at some point in its life before I bought it.
The Body overall isn't all that bad as far as dents go. The paint is in rough shape and will need repainted. Front end does show signs of being repainted once before so not sure if it has been in a fender bender or what at some point in its life. Also shows signs of some previous body work (see in the pictures) It is missing the trim piece that goes around the front window. Also the Front window has a chip. shouldn't effect it passing safety though. I am unsure of exact mileage because I am sure it has rolled over. The car has no rust that I have seen anywhere.
The interior is in very rough shape as well Seats need recovering and the windows don't like to roll up and down. The dash pad is of course cracked like most of them. The radio doesn't seem to work.
The convertible top isn't ripped anywhere just dirty. It will need repaired in some spots. especially the vinyl pieces in the rear. The one is completely removed but should be able to sew it back on. The top does fuction well the 2 times that I put it down. The latch on the trunk doesn't work so it will have a bungy cord holding it shut.
The good part about this car is that all the hard to find McLaren parts are there. they just need some love. I have all 4 wheels. the other is in the trunk. I would love to keep this car and fix it up but I have too many project cars and I don't know when I will get to this one.
Buyer pays for shipping. I will help load the vehicle up and take pictures for you if you have a transporter come and pick the vehicle up. Please let me know if you have any questions about the vehicle and I will try my best to answer them for you. There is a non refundable deposit of 200. 00 due within 48 hours of the auction being over. Also the car is forsale locally so I may end the auction at any time.
